As we approach the summer season, we have some important updates about day-use passes for three of B.C.’s busiest parks. Golden Ears Park will require free day-use passes starting May 3, Pipi7íyekw /Joffre Lakes Park starting May 16, and Garibaldi Park starting June 13.
In addition, to celebrate shared stewardship values, and to recognize the importance of the Pipi7íyekw/Joffre Lakes Park area to the Líl̓wat Nation and N’Quatqua, our collaborative approach to implementing the Visitor Use Management Strategy for the park will see further changes that allow us to manage the park to its natural state.
- There will be three Pipi7íyekw Reconnection Celebration time periods from April 30-May 15, June 14-23 and September 3-October 6, during which the park will be closed to recreational access and the general public.
- These periods will provide time and space for Líl̓wat Nation and N’Quatqua to reconnect with the land and carry out traditional, sustenance, cultural and spiritual practices, and are significant for our shared collaborative work towards managing Pipi7íyekw/Joffre Lakes Park.
- Park capacity (for both day-use and camping) will be 500 people per day.
