The SS Ilex Shipwreck is an amazing site, super close to shore and easily accessible for both divers and snorkelers, and absolutely thriving with life. We are so excited to explore it!

🌊The first snorkel event of the year was a success!! Although we didn't see any rolling capelin, we saw 100s of sculpin, lots of flounders, a skate, a lobster, a huge lionmane jelly, urchins, sea stars, and a happy kelp bed! Thanks to those you came out 🌟 see you at the next event in 2 weeks! 🐟🤿

PS: The capelin have started rolling on Torbay Beach as of today !! Go check them out!

THE CAPELINS ARE ROLLIN'!!!

As you have probably seen or heard already, the capelins have arrived to Newfoundland's coasts!

If you are not aware, capelins are small silvery fish that are a FAVOURITE of whales in particular. As of now, there are schools of capelin swimming along the coast, so much so that they are ''rolling" by waves on the shore. It is an impressive event to witness, and it is even more fun to swim along with them in the water.

Hence, we are very excited to organize this specific event to try and experience the capelin rollin'. We will head to Torbay beach, in the hopes of meeting them there, on July 6th at 1 pm.

This is a snorkel event, but you are more than welcome to dive or hang on the beach!

Due to the fire ban currently in place, we will be rescheduling the beach bonfire that was scheduled for this Saturday. We hope to be able to offer this event again after the ban is lifted and it is safe to do so.

The 2nd spring trivia is happening this Wednesday at 7pm at Trinity Pub!! Winners of the first round (marine science theme) will receive $$$ for Waterlust merch, and winners of the second round (random knowledge theme) will receive swag and stickers!

*Each trivia event is stand-alone; you don't have to attend all 3 events or stay in the same team to be eligible for prizes.*

Registration is not required, just show up at the pub with your team or come solo and join a team!

POOL DIVE SCHEDULE IS OUT!! We are hosting 4 pool sessions at the MUN pool (at The Works not the Aquarena). Each session is $20. Sign-up by filling out the form below and reserve your spot by sending your payment at [email protected]
🤿 If you need any rental gear you can get that from Ocean Quest Adventures. Rental gear is 50% off for Dive Club members (link is in our instagram bio if you want to join the club!) AS WELL if you rent gear for one pool session, the second time will be free rentals (for your first time only). This is a great time to brush up on your buoyancy skills, try out new gear, or even free dive/snorkel!

Just a reminder about the pool session tomorrow at 7:30 -9 pm in the Aquarena deep end :)

There are still spots left, and this is the last week that the price will be 10$! It goes up to 13$ for the last two pool sessions (I know a three dollar difference isn't much but still!) You are welcome to come out, practice some skills, test new gear, and even see dive masters in training do some of their swim and skills tests! Swimmers and snorkellers are also welcome!

Whose up for another pool session?! Next Tuesday March 22nd we have the deep end of the Aquarena booked from 7:30-9 to dive, swim, practice skills, try out new gear, anything for just $10! Sign up by messaging the Student Dive NL page, Kaitlin Casey, or by calling the Ocean Quest shop. Payment is by e-transfer.

When you arrive at the Aquarena you must present your Vax pass to the front desk before entering in the deep end door with your gear. You may arrive 15 minutes early on the pool deck to set up. If you have any questions feel free to comment or message us!
