Have you heard of Jiggs' Dinner? It's only one of our most popular traditional Newfoundland dishes. While it's not on our food tour we can hook you up with a Sunday dinner in St. John's.

When you think of Newfoundland food, one of the first things to come to mind is Jigg’s Dinner. Jiggs' Dinner is a traditional Newfoundland and Labrador dish that is often considered a quintessential part of the province's culinary heritage. It is also known as "boiled dinner" or "Sunday dinner" in...

We love cruise days. We hope our guests love our tours as much as we love having them on them. We look forward to welcoming the Norwegian Star back in port again on August 4th and 12th. Spots are VERY limited for our tours those days so if you've been thinking about it... book now. ;)

We love the changes they've made to the War Memorial (the last stop on our Signature Tour) in the past year. It's now so much more accessible with fewer barriers from Duckworth Street and a paved path from the top down to Water Street.

Being a city that's over 500 years old, there's still a lot that's not accessible. We know how important it is to remove barriers so this year we've added a new tour to our roster - one that avoids all stairs and steep hills downtown. Walking on Water is a 90min "for everyone" introduction to the city, our history and present day.

It starts a short stroll from the cruise port and finishes right in the heart of the Pedestrian Mall most mornings this summer. Check our website for schedule and availability.

Happy birthday to us! Exactly two years ago today we ran our very first public walking tour. As tour #300-something gets ready to begin on George Street we reflect on how much we've learned (about business, NL history, and everything in between) and how much fun we've had. Here's to many more years of taking walks in St. John's!

Bartholomew Roberts, born John Roberts, was a Welsh pirate who was, measured by vessels captured, the most successful pirate of the Golden Age of Piracy. During his piratical career, he took over 400 prize ships, although most mere fishing boats, a number of them Newfoundland fishing boats.

It was June 21, 1720 when Black Bart set his eyes on Trepassey. Merchants and fishers alike fled at the sound of the approaching pirate ship, which angered the captain. Perhaps this is why he lingered in town.

300 years ago, Trepassey was an important port in the Newfoundland migratory cod fishery and, compared to a lot of other stations on the coast, it was well-provisioned. During his two-week occupation of Trepassey Bart managed to capture 22 merchant ships and upgrade his own, replacing Fortune with the newly crowned Good Fortune. He also managed to persuade a few local men to join him, including John Walden (aka Miss Nanny).

He was killed in battle just two years later by the British Navy off the coast of Africa and the Newfoundlander who joined him was hanged was piracy.

Just one of the many things we've learned while diving deep into Newfoundland history for our tours. Want to know what else we've learned? Come for a walk with us this summer. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

Why launch one new tour when we could launch two?? 🍻

Introducing the Newfoundland Beer Tour by St. John's Walking Tours!

On this tour you’ll enjoy a wide variety of local brews, from a sour brewed with Newfoundland sea salt to a complex stout with ales and lagers in between. We’ll make stops at three different breweries and bars for stories and tales and 7 samples of beer brewed right here.

Learn about Newfoundland’s long and rich beer history, from our earliest brewing endeavours to our thriving modern craft beer industry. Along the way your guide will entertain you with stories of prohibition and the gangsters that came with it, an accidental port discovery, and the local beer connection to Jimmy Kimmel. In addition, our enthusiastic local guides give you a crash course on how to taste craft beers, while sharing their knowledge, recommendations, and personal anecdotes about how St. John’s became the city it is today.

Our first Newfoundland Beer Tour will head out June 14th and will run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon until Thanksgiving.

From now until June 20th, book a spot on the Newfoundland Beer Tour or Walking on Water and get 20% off with the code TOURLAUNCH24.
