Yorabode designs objects, experiences and places that make you feel at home. Based in St. John's, NL, the company was founded by Intern Architect Emily Campbell in 2016. Since then, we have created a line of home products, taken care of homes (property management), hosted guests (airbnb) and provided advice to those renovating their homes. We take care in everything we do.

I was pregnant when we took these photos, but I didn’t yet know it. Despite how ready I felt, I also didn’t know what the next few years would hold. People have been asking me how I feel, with somewhat of a sad look. I’m letting one dream rest to focus on another, my wee family. So far I’m feeling mostly relieved, proud, and ridiculously busy and tired. The sadness, loss, grief creeps in every now and then, but I have too much on my plate to let it linger. I’ve started a new job, am almost ready to list my house for sale, am still finishing up some pre-existing architecture/housing contracts and as you know, am winding things up to close Yorabode. 😮‍💨

So for now, I’m focusing on liquidating our stock (we had a ton of Heather soap and it’s now ridiculously cheap, 80% off) selling some big equipment and prepping for our final bash on July 13th at noon. I hope to see you down at the studio so we can reminisce and you can help us clear out the studio by getting some scores on essential oils, supplies, equipment, tools and furniture. Thanks for reading this very long post, you’re the best!

Boreal’s the scent for woody-tree-like aroma lovers who still want something fresh. Only two left on the site and I just marked em down more.

And if you haven’t already, save the date for our final studio sale: July 13th at noon. We’re selling essential oils (the ones we use to make our products) equipment, furniture, tools and more. We’ll also be giving away lots of stuff for free!

the final item imaginable on an extensive list of usually disparate items.

From our kitchen sink we’ve put together a limited release that’ll roll out over two weeks, the first is available now. This week is a love letter to Vetiver and ‘s reverence scent. Citrus and earth in bar soap and salve. Stay tune for next week, and hold the date for our final open studio Saturday July 13th at noon.

The pre-order will close on Friday at noon NST. Our 10% off coupon code is no longer active, site-wide, but I have now discounted what we have left further, up to 50% off.

We’ve caught our breaths and packed up the majority of your orders. (If we haven’t packed your order yet, we’ve been in touch with an update) Our pre-order now sits at almost a hundred candles and a coupla thousand dollars worth of soap. We also received 22 vessels back which we’ll clean and re-use.

Lauren and I are working on a plan to finish up our work and close up shop, and we’ll share dates with you as soon as we have them. Some things you can look forward to are—a ‘kitchen sink’ bar soap, some salve and hand cream, a few bits and bobs of things we find as we’re cleaning out our studio and a garage sale style in-person event where we’ll be selling equipment, furniture, plants, supplies and anything else we have left at the studio.

I didn’t expect the reaction you have had, and I’m still so thankful and humbled every day for all the love that our goods are getting and the kind words you’ve shared.

Wow! We have received more orders in the past week than we have all year. We also heard that you guys have lots of vessels saved up, so let’s keep them out of the landfill and give an opportunity to folks who didn’t see our first announcement a chance to stock up. We will continue accepting glass jars as part of our RE.USE program until Sunday May 26th

I plan to open a pre-order (so we make the right mix) for large candles in amber jars and liquid soap tomorrow by noon! Add a 🔥in the comments if you want me to send you a DM when the pre-order is available.

Thank you so much for showing up with your dollars, and also kind words. 🥹

I had no idea how much this little company meant to so many—“only candles I can burn” [without headaches, asthma, allergies etc] “part of our love story” “got me through a dark patch” “helped maintained a connection to home” or “remember a special time”

I’ve made the incredibly hard decision to say goodbye for now and close our little St. John’s studio. 2024 will be Yorabode’s last year in business. I’ll be leaving with incredible gratitude to you all who supported me (and Lauren) in exploring how foraged botanicals and experiences of nature could enrich our homes. The consumer landscape has changed so much since I started and I’m struggling to find a way to exist in this space that feels aligned with my values and can also support my family and staff financially.

I’ll be moving to Nova Scotia this summer or fall and transitioning more fully to the career I’ve held part-time for over a decade in architecture and affordable housing. I’m planning on maintaining our newsletter list and social media accounts just in case. I love this work and don’t know what the future holds.

We’ve built up our stock and are hoping for a good last hoorah in sales. We’d love if you stocked up before we go. I’ve created a coupon code GOODBYE10 for 10% off everything on the site including items that are already discounted AND we actually have added some really special new ceramics and limited edition goods.

If you happen to be in Nova Scotia I’ll either do an in-person or instagram story sale here to sell off the remainder of the goods from our recent market. Stay tuned for this and some really cool limited edition stuff we have in the works to use up the wonderful waxes, oils and aromas we have.

I’m very proud of the brand, scents and following we’ve built over the past eight years. Thank you again for your support in allowing me to follow my dreams and make some very very nice smelling things.

A little over a year ago, I became a parent. And surprisingly (to me) it didn’t make my relationship with today, Mother’s Day, any easier, just more complicated.
Sending love to those who long to become mothers, have lost their mothers, are single mothers, have strained relationships with their mothers, are away from their children, don’t identify as mothers (despite having children) or any other reason you may find today hard. I see you. 🤍

We have a very busy coupla weeks, including a last-minute decision to host another seconds sale this weekend! We found some excellent stuff while Spring cleaning and want to give you the opportunity to score a deal. Some highlights—a soap dish with a little chip, some once burned candles and even a candle in our new milk glass vessel. See ya at noon!

Bars of soap are designed to suds when exposed to water. The best way to keep it lasting long is to keep your bar away from water when not in use. Try storing it high up in the shower on a ridged surface or in a draining soap dish.

We’ve really enjoyed working with to integrate scent as part of their stays. Did you know we work with boutique inns and airbnbs by providing custom scents and products or simply offering very mini bar soaps or large refill size liquid soap.

Get in touch if you’d like to work with us to elevate your guest’s experience.

You’d think that 8 years into foraging aromatic botanicals and another decade with food I’d have explored all my locale has to offer. Sweet gale surprised me a few years back, I adore it. And even more recently I’ve been exploring yarrow, and oh boy, it’s stealing the show. I can’t wait to keep getting to know this plant that’s so ubiquitous. I’ve since found it in almost every patch of grass I think to comb through.

Yarrow is the perfect compliment to sweet gale and wild chamomile (pineapple w**d) in our limited edition collaboration with Emily Howard. The pre-sale sold out twice, but we’ve released it again as part of our thaw seasonal collection and there are still a few available on our website.
