Canada announces new Tech Talent Strategy to attract high skilled professionals

- Open work permit stream for H-1B speciality occupation visa holders for up to 3 years. Accompanying family members can apply for student or work permit as needed.

- STEM specific express entry draws under category based selection

- Digital nomad policy allowing people with foreign employer to work in Canada for upto 6 months

- Under the International Mobility Program (1) Open work permit without any job offer for up to 5 years for certain in-demand professions and
(2) Employer specific work permits up to 5 years for workers of companies selected by the Canadian government as supporting the industrial innovation objectives.

- Return of 2 weeks processing time for Global Talent Stream

- Start up visa program for entrepreneurs will allow for up to 3 years open work permit rather than a 1 year closed work permit
