A quick look at the programs offered by Boreal Journeys this season:
Half Day Journey (3 hour program that includes a thorough lesson and a 12-16 km run mushing a team: $250 + HST per person)
Mini Mushing Sampler (90 minute program that includes a thorough lesson and a 5 km run mushing a team: $95 + HST per person)
Lookout Loop (2.5 hr program that includes a thorough lesson and a hilly 11 km run mushing a team $175 + HST per person).
Custom Half Day programs (3 hour custom designed for larger groups $800 + HST per group)
Family Rides (90 minute program, meet the dogs, short rides as a passenger in the sled: $295 + HST per family and must include children 12 y.o. or younger).

Our assistant surveyors Merlin, Lizzie, and Popple helped us scout and map some new trails yesterday. New trail experiences coming to Boreal Journeys next season!

Boreal Journeys will be doing some programming in Bearskin Lake this March Break. We'll be flying and need hard shell crates for the dogs for air travel. If anyone has one (or ten) they'd be willing to let us borrow, please let us know. We'd need to arrange pickup by Monday and could return them the following Monday.

Our second visit to Kingsway Park this year. This time with the dogs. Thanks to our guides, Casey and Haley, as well as our super handlers, the Hane family and students from Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School for helping us deliver this program. The learning academy continues this week as grade 8 students will be learning to drive a dog team at Boreal Journeys.

Boreal Journeys Sled Dog Kennels spent Wednesday educating students about dog sledding and teamwork.

We scratched from the Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race this weekend. Day one was a long, tough run in really warm temperatures. We were stopped lots to let the dogs cool off before continuing down the trail. When we woke up to above 0 temperatures on day 2, I knew it wouldn't be fair of me to ask them to do it again. Despite the scratch, we had a great time. We got lots of passing (or rather being passed) practice. Annie ran lead for the whole run. It was great to meet new friends, including my volunteer handler crew of Rich, Sara, and Marsha who came all the way from Arkansas to volunteer.

Congratulations Julia!

Thunder Bay musher Julia Cross wins inaugural Junior John Beargrease sled dog race in Two Harbours ! Congratulations Julia! She's been a musher since the age of 5. And she says the warm weather is tougher to race for the dogs. They had to have lots of breaks to cool down. Just love that she's following her dream.

Beargrease starts today. There are many ways to follow the race. Go in person, follow the blog posts, news articles, Beargrease FB page, online live start, and more. A great field of fantastic mushers are lined up for all of the Beargrease races this year. Hoping they all have fantastic runs.
