It is with a heavy heart that I must announce we are closing up shop this year. My personal journey has led me to another opportunity, such that will not allow for the normal operation of this business during peak tourist season.

We appreciate your patronage and wish you all the best on your travels - please enjoy all that Northern Ontario has to offer, there are plenty of adventures just around the corner!

Thank you again for your support!

On this day 42 years ago, the Edmund Fitzgerald got caught in a nasty storm that sent it to the bottom of Lake Superior, with all hands.

The beacon at Split Rock Lighthouse will shine bright tonight. The lighthouse is lit once a year to commemorate the sinking of the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald and the loss of her 29 crew members on November 10, 1975. Learn more about the event: http://www.mnhs.org/event/927

On this day in 1949; the Great Lakes lost an incredible ship and a number of unfortunate souls lost their lives. The S.S. Noronic was built here in Thunder Bay.

S.S. Noronic was a passenger ship that was destroyed by fire in Toronto Harbour on September 17, 1949 with the loss of at least 118 lives. S.S. Noronic was launched June 2, 1913 in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. She was built by the Western Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company for the Northern Navigation Company, an operating division of Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), to perform passenger and package freight service on the Great Lakes.

The Alexander Henry is coming home to Thunder Bay on a permanent basis! Looking forward to seeing it by the Kam River Park!

Congratulations to the Lakehead Transportation Museum Society for last night receiving approval and the releasing of funds to return the Alexander Henry to the Kam River Heritage Park in Thunder Bay.

CLLS is represented on the board of directors, as the ship will act as an active hub to promote the Canadian Coast Guard history in the area.

The Alexander Henry is as an Icebreaker, buoy tender, and used to drop off and pick up lighthouse keepers in the 1960's.
