For all of you not currently gallivanting, I hope you get to spend time enjoying family. We did a big breakfast for supper with all the toppings that only grandparents provide. There were exclamations of "that goes on ice cream! That's silly!" as they squeezed chocolate and caramel sauce over piles of whip cream on chocolate chip pancakes covered in fresh berries. The blessings are many.

What sounds like more funโ€ฆpoppinโ€™ bottles, or scrambling to find seats together on a bus?

98% of my clients arrange private transfers in their destination, when available.

Shared transfers are included in the trip cost with the majority of resort vacation packages in the Caribbean and Mexico. A shared transfer means that you share a bus with other travellers to get to your resort. Once you have collected your luggage and cleared customs, you exit the airport and find your tour company. They will load you onto a bus, and then, once all of the guests are on board, you will make your way to your resort, with some stops along the way to drop off other travellers. You need to jockey for position, as everyone is disembarking at your resort at the same time, and everyone is anxious to check in. Elbows up!

With a private transfer, you collect your luggage and clear customs, find your transfer representative outside, hop in your van, pop open a cold beverage, and off you go. It is a direct ride to your resort, with an optional stop at a store if you need to pick anything up. You arrive at your resort, feeling calm and relaxed, after having enjoyed an air-conditioned, expedient transfer to your resort. You sidle up to the check-in desk and you are on your way!

My vacation mode is officially activated the minute I hop into my private transfer and pop open my beverage. That sound is my indication that vacation has officially began.

My colleague shared this incredible information and I cannot stress enough that unless you went intending to buy a timeshare, avoid these offers. Your vacation time is worth more than those hours spent being 'sold' a timeshare/vacation club/or whatever they want to call it to hide what it really is.

"Hey, Lady... how would you like a free spa treatment? Breakfast? Catamaran excursion?"

Sound familiar?

Resort "concierge" are increasingly pushing time share/vacation ownership to their guests. It is typically disguised as a free gift in exchange for an hour of your vacation time.

If you are interested in time share, then go for it.
If you want the "free" gift and plan to decline the offer and leave the presentation after an hour, be forewarned...it is not as easy as that. They use high pressure sales techniques, and if you do not go through the ENTIRE process, you will not get your gift.

If someone is offering you something that sounds too good to be true, it usually is. If you do not want to be hasseled, tell them no thank you and move on.

Was your Christmas magical? As magical as Chris'? When my longtime friend reached out to say that it's time for 'them' and they wanted to go on an adventure, I helped her plan a 7 day cruise as a surprise. Dawnette chose an incredible itinerary and made sure they have a balcony to enjoy things like room service breakfast and pre dinner beverages. I cannot love his reaction enough. This is incredible!

For me vacation includes a spa visit. I don't shop, not big on tours and really find value in a relaxing treatment. So I've done treatments all over. Ships and resorts. I've done hydrotherapy, facials, body scrubs/wraps and massages. Today I experienced the best massage. I did a deep tissue to help with my flared up sciatica. While Ray did a relaxing Swedish massage. I had Ruth. She fixed me right up and for the first time ever, I've booked another massage for before I leave here. There is no hydrotherapy. No luxe bells and whistles. What there is, is stunning surroundings on a cliff with waves crashing and breezes blowing in on your body. It even rained while we were in there. We got to hear both thunder and rain, while being misted lightly by it. It was bliss! And now we're in the room about to nap.
