Ahoy Mateys! We are so excited for you to join us at Ottawa Pirate Fest this Saturday, June 8th.

Here are the times of the activities:

9:30 am Pirate Fest Begins (local vendors and face painting all day)

10:15am Toddler Show with Jesse from the NAC’s Toddler Tuesday (singing, dancing, playing games for kids ages 1-5 & their adults)

11:15am Puppet Show by Puppets on the Run (short, pirate themed puppet show for kids of all ages)

11:30am Costume contest for kids, adults, and pets (pull together your best pirate outfit and strut your stuff to win prizes)

12pm Picnic with a pirate (bring your own lunch, picnic blanket, and your imagination for an unforgettable experience)

2pm Sword Fighting demonstration & Pool Noodle swords (watch a professional sword fighting demonstration and then test your skills with our safe pool noodle swords)

3pm Puppet Show by Puppets on the Run (an encore performance)

3:45pm Pirate Olympics (compete against other pirates in a few different games to be the ultimate pirate champion)

5pm Daytime Pirate Fest ends

5:30pm Landlubber Comedy show with The Velvet Duke (Let them hoist your spirits with spontaneous audience inspired games and scenes. This early evening comedy show is all ages so no one has to walk the plank! Pay What (b***y) You Will when we pass the pirate hat)

6:30pm Sea Shanty Song Hour with Owen & the crew (learn how to harmonize and sing in the round with the pirate crew or just hang out and enjoy the vibe!)

7:30pm Improv Show with the Carleton Improv Association (a swashbucklingly silly hour of pirate-ifed games with the audience)
8:30pm Pirate Fest Ends

Ahoy, matey! As the good weather makes its way to the city, Pirate Fest 🏴‍☠️ is here to bring family fun to Mooney’s Bay on June 8.

Organised by Pirate Life Theatre, Pirate Fest is a whole day full of all-ages events including sword fighting, face painting, and children’s theatre. Special events coordinator Jesse Kahat says there’s lots of activities us scallywags can expect for this one-day event.

“We have the daytime, which is geared mostly towards families with small children, and then we have the evening, which is geared more towards adults and older teens,” she says.

Pirate Life Theatre is a children’s theatre company that creates pirate-themed shows for families in Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton. This is the first Pirate Fest in Ottawa, and Kahat says that she came up with the idea after working with Pirate Life Theatre as a pirate last year.
