Welcome to Flett Tunnel, located on our families 300 acre Hunting and Homesteading property, that we've been stewards of, since 1926. Our mission is to provide ongoing information, education and a Northern Ontario outdoor experience that focuses on the well known rural ideology of "Leave No Trace" as a guiding principle, which unfortunately, seems to have been not just lost since 2000, but is being aggressively challenged by large groups of individuals who believe they have the right to go where they want, and do what they want, regardless of the consequences to wildlife, waterways or the flora and fauna in the area, all while destroying private property.
Access has been a Privilege, not a Right.
Outdoor Ethics 101 = Leave No Trace
These guidelines are widely understood and followed by biologists, land managers, leaders in outdoor education, hunters, Aboriginal peoples, ornithologists, fisheries and conservation managers and most land owners. The expectation is anyone accessing private property, crown land or public recreational land, treat the land with the same consideration and respect that common sense dictates, or the privilege of use, can and will be revoked.
The 7 FLETT TUNNEL TRAIL PRINCIPLES
1. Plan Ahead & Prepare. Bring water, a snack, a whistle and let people know your plans or expected return.
2. Travel, Walk, bike, horse ride or ATV, but ONLY along the Abandoned Railway Surface Trail.
3. Dispose of Waste Properly by taking out what you carry in.
4. Leave What You Find.
5. NO Campfires
6. Be Considerate of Other Visitors.
7. Respect Wildlife crossing and walking along the trail
Remember, NO HUNTING, this is PRIVATE PROPERTY.
