Trudeau Resigns – What’s next for Canada? After leading the Liberals to three election wins, Trudeau steps down as Prime Minister, leaving behind a polarizing legacy as the country prepares for a pivotal election. Have you watched or read his speech? 🇨🇦👀 Read a full post on our Instagram account 🔗 https://zurl.co/KHOks

What to expect in the immigration field?

It is not clear how Trudeau’s resignation as party leader will impact immigration policy (but) since Parliament is on pause, the federal government can't pass new laws, which could delay some planned changes to Canada's immigration system. However, this shouldn't affect Express Entry or cause delays in the application process.

On November 15, 2024 — finally the IRCC announced new International Student Program regulations 👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓

We won’t lie — it’s getting a bit tougher for international students with new regulations. The rules are stricter, and it’s easier to make a mistake. So before making any move ➝ question everything ➝ don’t hesitate to ask for a second opinion.

Stay informed. Stay on track.
And remember, your study permit has conditions for off-campus work — like “May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria, per paragraph R186(f), (v), or (w) and must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria”.

11/11/2024

Yes, you read that right—here’s how it worked: Canada used to issue multiple-entry visitor visas lasting up to 10 years, based on your passport’s validity. So, if your passport had 8 years remaining at the time of approval, your Canadian visa would match that, lasting for those 8 years.

📌 What does this mean for visa applicants?

Immigration officers are stricter than ever. Even a small missing document can lead to a refusal, whether it’s for a wedding invite or a short-single travel visit.

📌 What does this mean for immigration representatives?

To think and strategize your application far beyond the first or even second step — staying 10 steps ahead of the officer’s perspective.

🫂 Who’s applying for common-law PR sponsorship?

Here’s something to keep in mind: IRCC’s general checklist doesn’t specify which documents are absolutely compulsory, and we often see couples choosing to leave out key evidence — like proof of shared finances, joint photos, or letters from family and friends. The risk? 👀 At best, your application could be returned as incomplete. At worst, it might be marked as weak and refused.

To explain those 20%, we gathered the numbers from the previous immigration plans for 2025 and 2026 to compare them with the new targets. This way, we can better understand the changes happening in the immigration landscape

What is the Immigration Plan?

The Immigration Levels Plan is Canada’s big yearly update on how many permanent residents it will welcome over the next 3 years. This planning helps bring stability for immigrants and everyone involved.

What’s new?

For the first time, the government is cutting immigration levels for the next three years. It also includes targets for temporary residents, like international students and workers, which is a new addition.

Why?

The plan focuses on key priorities: boosting the economy, addressing labor shortages, reuniting families, and upholding Canada’s humanitarian commitments.
