The Australian Computer Society (ACS), the exclusive assessing authority for technology-related visa applications in Australia, has announced changes regarding its procedure assessing qualifications and work experience. Basic requirements, such as level of education, relevance, and years of work experience needed for a positive professional assessment will not change. Only the procedure by which the ACS assesses whether you meet the requirements will change.
Based on knowledge, tasks, and responsibilities gained during your education and work experience, the ACS will propose four ICT occupations (ANZSCO codes). From these four occupations, the applicant will choose three, on which the ACS will assess your qualifications and work experience. You will then receive a letter for each of these three occupations stating whether you meet the requirements for each specific occupation.
This way, the ACS aims to reduce their current processing times to 10-15 business days, decrease the number of applications needing a reassessment, and be more responsive to immigrant demand. Many benefits indeed. The downside is that the fee for this professional assessment will increase to AUD 1,450.
If you would like to know more about the new assessment system of the ACS or if you are wondering whether you qualify for a positive professional assessment as an ICT professional, please contact one of our visa consultants for Australia.
