About Neill Wycik

Neill Wycik first opened its doors to students on August 15, 1970. The initiative to create Neill Wycik started in 1966 and was spearheaded by Kathy Whalen and a small group of motivated Ryerson students. The goal of the co-op back then was to provide affordable student accommodations and offer a student controlled enviornment in which they could develop. These are still the goa

ls that Neill-Wycik has for today! You may be asking yourself “What exactly is a co-op?” Well in terms of housing, a co-op is a business model where the residents (also called members) are also the owners. The residents make decisions, vote on by-laws and set the policies that have a direct impact on their lives. Furthermore, the number one goal of a co-op is to serve its members rather than making huge profits. This ensures that the housing charges stay low while the quality of life remains high.
