Should you stay at one lodge for your safari or travel around?
To answer that, here are a few things to consider:
Where’s your ideal destination to safari? Some countries in Africa are much easier to op between lodges than others, and also have a lot more national parks and reserves to explore.
How much time do you have? Depending on your timelines, it may or may not make sense to go between lodges.
What safari company are you going with? Some safari companies have airstrips and even their own planes, making it easier to get between lodges.
Once I get to know your personality, travel style, budget and timeframe, I work with you closely to personally curate your safari experience.
We decide where you want to go and whether it makes sense to pick multiple lodges, which lodges you’ll stay at, and al of the logistics of getting between places in your itinerary.

There are a lot of amazing safari lodges out there with the absolute best of the best amenities.
But I would argue that the biggest luxury on safari is the location of your lodge.
National parks are the most well known and have the biggest reputation, but it’s the lesser-known reserves that offer a better safari experience, in my opinion.
National Parks
➡️ Don’t allow off-roading, walking safaris, bush meals, and night game drives.
➡️ Often have several vehicles at each animal sighting.
➡️ Park entrances have a queue at opening and closing.
Private Game Reserves
➡️ Owned by a group of safari lodges
➡️ Fewer crowds on game drives, 2 vehicles maximum usually
➡️ Allow walking safaris, bush meals, night game drives, sleep-outs, etc.
➡️ Lodges can still operate game drives inside nearby national parks.
Now that’s not to say that you should skip national parks, they’re popular for a reason.
