Раз в год Торонто оживает благодаря взрывной 12-часовой выставке искусства, разбросанной по улицам!

Nuit Blanche (Бедая Ночь) состоится на следующей неделе, в субботу, 5 октября, начиная с 19:00 и заканчивая в 7:00 утра в воскресенье. В этом году пройдет более 80 выставок, большая часть из которых пройдет вдоль набережной Торонто. Сюда также входит центр с выступлениями художников, цифровыми инсталляциями и мультимедийными исследованиями.

Я буду бродить по улицам и хотел бы взять вас с собой, хотя бы вначале 😍

Мы собираемся встретиться в парке «Маленькая Норвегия» у подножия Батерст-стрит в 18:30, как раз перед официальными часами открытия, и вместе осмотрим выставки, следуя на восток и заканчивая возле Harbourfront Centre.

Это займет у нас около 90 минут, после чего у вас будет карта и целая ночь, чтобы продолжить исследование яркого и красивого города.

Я приму чаевые (20–30 долларов на человека) и постараюсь изучить выставленные работы на двух языках: английском и русском 😀

Once a year, the city of Toronto comes alive with art in an explosive 12 hour exhibition spread out all over the streets!

Nuit Blanche is coming next week, Saturday, October 5th, starting at 7:00 pm and finishing up at 7:00 am on a Sunday. This year there are over 80 exhibitions and a big portion of them is stretched out along the Toronto Harbourfront. This also includes a hub with artist’s talks, digital installations, and multi-media explorations.

I am going to be roaming the streets and would love to bring you with me 😍

We’re going to meet at Little Norway Park at the foot of Bathurst Street at 6:30 pm, just before the official opening hours and we’ll explore the exhibitions together following east and finishing up near the Harbourfront Centre.

This should take us about 90 minutes at which point you’ll be armed with a map and a whole night to continue and explore the vibrant and beautiful city.

I’ll accept tips ($20-$30 per person) and will attempt to explore the exhibited works in two languages, English and Russian.

Nuit Blanche is Toronto's free all-night contemporary art event.

My next upcoming "public" tour will be taking place on September 14, 2024 at 9:00 am. This will be a Graffiti and Public Art Tour starting near 298 Queen St. W. Details below ☺️

Have you ever wandered in the dark alleyways of your city or tried to decipher the stuff that is written on the walls of this urban jungle that we call home? Or maybe you just brushed it off as vandalism and never thought about it again? Come and explore the alleyways with me and learn the history of modern graffiti and what it looks like today, and how the community in Toronto is moving into the future. 😁

We will walk along Queen Street West for about 1.5-2 hours.
We will sneak into back alleys, where graffiti is an art form and I will teach you how to read the walls of an urban environment, specifically Toronto, but also from all over the world. This walk is “off the beaten path” and is very popular with younger generations 😊

Only once a year I run a tour around my neighborhood. This is a place that I call home, which at one point was a village with its own flavour and vibe. We will roam around some side streets and you'll see how an average "downtowner" lives on a daily basis. We will finish near Dufferin Gate where you'll be able to go inside the Canadian National Exhibition. Be ready!

August 31st - North Hollywood (11:30-13:30)

To get ready for the upcoming TIFF festival you should come out and walk the cultural corridor in Toronto and ask all the questions you may have as to how to get tickets, where to see the stars, and generally how to enjoy the area and the festival coming up next week!

September 1st - Graffiti and Public Art Tour (9:00-11:00)

Walk the alleys with me to explore the "other" side of Toronto and see what it really means to call a public space "your own" and how to read the walls of an urban jungle.

ALL the tours will be in English and all are based on a "pay-what-you-feel" model (usually $20-$30)

I'm running a few english-speaking Graffiti Alley tours over the next few weekends in the mornings (double check the start time) :D

А когда вы в последний раз проходили по закоулкам вашего района? А может присматривались когда нибудь на те надписи которые периодически появляются на стенах нашего города, или просто отписывали это под вандализм? Приходите ко мне на прогулку по тем аллеям где цвета оживают и у стен есть свои собственные секреты.

Как и обещано, приглашаю вас на "публичный" тур по Аллее Граффити в Торонто. Экскурсия, скажем так, на тему: “Что такое искусство или как читать стены городов?” 😂 Только одна дата: 25ое Мая! Экскурсия будет проводится на русском. Начинаем в 11:00 am, возле “The Black Bull Pub”, на 298 Queen St. W. Прогулка будет длится около двух часов и вся будет проходить на улице. Записываться не обязательно, но дайте знать если будете.

Learn how to read the walls of a city!

"What is graffiti?? How does public art affect urban living?? What can architecture do to make a city feel like home??

Come along on a stroll down the back alleys of the coolest street in North America, where the colours come alive and the walls hide their own secrets. Together, we will tackle a question of what is public art and how do we perceive it in the modern urban jungle.

When was the last time you walked through the back streets and alleys of your area? Have you ever stopped to look closer at those inscriptions that periodically appear on the walls of YOUR city, or simply wrote it off as vandalism?

As a storytelling professor myself, I'll help you learn how to read the walls of an urban environment and delve into the community and culture of graffiti and muralism in both Toronto and around the world.

This is meant as a walking tour only where we cover about 2km (just over a mile) and it will take around 2 hours."

I wonder if it's the right time to open up the season?? Maybe just a preview :)
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I'll be running a tour in English this upcoming Sunday, April 7th, starting at 12:00 (noon) beside AGO (Couch Monster sculpture). See full description below. Pics are for algorithms. This will be a tip based tour, so I'll ask you for some cash afterwards (usually about $20 per person)

Entertainment District and Cultural Corridor of Toronto. Why do we call Toronto - "North Hollywood"? Come out on a walk with me where we talk about the cultural identity of Canadians, especially Torontonians. You will see some of the coolest and largest public art pieces in the city and will learn about the history of art and its presence in Canada and Toronto.
You will also see examples of street art and we'll discuss where the line between vandalism and art can be drawn. We will pass by the headquarters for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) We will talk about modern cinema and the impact of Toronto on Hollywood right in the "studio" of this beautiful city.
You will see some of the oldest and newest theatres in the city that are just a block away from each other. We will finish on the Canadian Walk of Fame, beside Roy Thompson Hall, and discuss what the future of culture and entertainment looks like in Canada, Toronto, and all over the world.
