Twillingate Retreat

Twillingate Retreat A beautiful cliff top cottage, facing sunsets, icebergs and whales. Crow Head, Twillingate Island. The Livyer

Livyer means "Live Here".

A permanent settler of coastal Newfoundland as opposed to migratory fisherman from England. These are our ancestors who created the cold storage root cellar system across Newfoundland Island. These useful buildings will protect us again in the future. We dedicate this building, which is built on historical architecture, to our earliest ancestors who decided to stay on this beautiful island of Newf

oundland. Compared with the Newfoundland Island's summer population, the livyers were small in number throughout the 1600s, fewer than 1 in 6 summer residents remaining year-round. This expanded in the 18th century when approximately 90% of the summer population of Newfoundland Island remained throughout the winter. The Owners,
Terry and Debbie Adey
