Want a place not far from the city but feels like you're surrounded by nature? If this interests you, please visit www.airbnb.com/rooms/38390860 Our lovely Cabin (ranch style) has a large open space living, dining and kitchen area, three bedrooms and one bathroom. The living area which I call the Great Room, has a beautiful stone fireplace with comfortable seating and plenty of room to gather for

a family meal. Our cabin was originally built with the intention of providing a place for families to come and gather together. It only had the fireplace to provide inside heat, so it was used seasonally. When we chose to make our Cabin into a year-round facility, we converted the kitchen, added a bedroom, laundry space and furnace room. We wanted to provide opportunities for families to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, in all seasons. We have a very large lawn space with volleyball net, basketball hoop, kids play center, a small zip line, and two regulation horseshoe pits. Under the pavilion we have a ping pong table, darts, and BBQ and cooking area. In the winter we have snowshoes available, upon request, and we’ve created a small ice rink. Trees from our own property were used in the construction of our Cabin and the Pavilion. As well, we have used our own trees for some of the accoutrements, such as the beautiful live-edge family breakfast nook around a center beam (log); the converted cookstove with live-edge counter and built-in electric cooktop; the birch tree tables; the log benches in and out, etc. We love the rustic blended with modern and comfortable. We continue to improve the property each year. We added a small ice rink this winter for the kids to enjoy a little skate. We have 30 acres of trails in the back, that we are cultivating for easier walking with tidbits of information along the path. Our place can be your retreat for relaxing and enjoying nature, or a jump-off place to explore more of Alberta. The mountains and Jasper are only 3 hrs to the west, or Edmonton’s West Edmonton Mall is less than an hour east. Without a doubt, we believe we are a gem to those who find us! We are excited for guests to come and partake of our little ‘peace’ of heaven. We welcome you!

We do little changes here and there. A big screen tv and piano have been added. The extra dining room table was removed to make room for the piano. Only one table is really needed for a family, right? If you need more, there's several picnic tables under the pavilion to enjoy your meal outdoors.

Updated two of our bedrooms with a new Eddie Bauer comforter. I'm liking them very much!

Fall came and is sadly past. How lovely are the leaves when they turn multi-coloured and start to litter the ground. It's kinda sad when all the trees are finally barren.
The snow has arrived! and is probably here until spring returns. I do love the pristine white that blankets our land and looks so peaceful and pretty. Snow and frost sit upon the branches and give it a beautiful touch.
I also LOVE that we'll be turning on our Christmas lights very soon. They look like sparkly jewels in the night. Hey, it may be tacky but I like the festive gold & lighted lamp post I got for the veranda ... especially meant to greet our winter guests. A particular warm Welcome to YOU whether you visit us in person or via this page. Thanks for taking the time!
Love,
Wendy & George

Before the big winds blew all the leaves off. The sun hitting the trees and making the leaves seem a brilliant orange. Courage and Scout love having the space of our 40 acres to run and chase the wild life.
Our maple tree as it begins to change from green to reds. In a few days it was completely fire red and then a week later it was bare.
So sad when the trees are stripped and bare. But now they are laden with new fallen snow and sparkle with heavy frosts.

These are some of my chickens. This new chicken coop was my birthday present last summer! Last week on a rare nice day George kindly painted it white for me so I can continue with my painting plans. The grey girl is one of my last year additions from my friend Bailey Fredette. The flowers and bees are what I'm hoping to paint on my coop. Come ON nice weather ... give us another break so I can get started! ... these last few nice days have had to be spent getting the Cabin ready for the next guests, and in the garden tending to w**d control.
I'm just so excited to get started on my coop. How DO I draw such a huge picture on a building? Wish me luck!

This is one facemask that will be better than a cloth one when the proper store-bought masks are not available. It is not difficult, you just need HEPA vacuum bags. If you have some great! If not, order on Amazon, along with some elastic. The leftovers can be used as filter inserts in cloth masks.

A doctor explains how to make the safest face mask. This is a safe face mask that if built properly should be donated to your local emergency services. It ut...

Earlier today I took this. Looking off the front of our cabin veranda after a huge snowfall last night and this morning. I'm sure we got nearly a foot of snow! So lovely and pristine with no prints spoiling it yet.
Soon we'll be able to see the wildlife prints, usually as they've scurried across to avoid our dogs.
Hello WINTER!! Next week I hear you're bringing it on to -30 ... yikes!!

Of course we knew it would happen! It snowed most of today and now the ground has been covered in a layer of white. It looks clean and crisp again.
Hopefully, the slick and icy country roads have a little more grip on them after this snow.
It's been lovely and warm for this time of year!

It was fun bringing Christmas to the Cabin! Thanks George for stringing up the jewelled lights. They're beautiful! Thanks Judy for decorating the tree, it is gorgeous!
We've loved giving your piano a home Linda, we'll have to find a replacement once you reclaim it to your new home. It really is nice to have one, just in case someone knows how to play.
Dare I say we are ready for some snow?!

We decided to move our firewood holder down from the house. Holds lots of wood.

Imagine: I'm really enjoying being able to watch Netflix while I'm ironing the bedding. Yes, I iron the flat sheets and pillow cases. It's a lot of ironing!
Reminds me of when I was young and my mom would iron the pillow cases and pretty much everything else. She's a good ironer!

This is the Taupe bedroom. It has blackout drapes which are nice when you want to block the light in the summertime. My mom altered the drapes for me and reupholstered the chair to match. Thanks mom! I now have a purpose for all my cute stuffies that I could never part with. They welcome the guests.

This is the Taupe Bedroom. I found a decorator pillow that I really liked and it determined the colour scheme of this room. It was fun finding the bedskirt and a matching pilow on two separate shopping trips! I've had a lot of fun putting the rooms together, with the help of a few friends. The drapes in this room and the Great Room are black-out ones so they reduce the amount of light coming into from the outside.
