Montreal to Quebec City
There are two routes between the cities: the North Shore via Trois Riviere, and the South Shore via Drummondville and Victoriaville (which is the official Trans-Canada route). This route connects the largest harbour city on Canada’s east coast with the heart and soul of Quebec’s culture and identity, moving along the shore of the St Lawrence River, that connects the Atlantic with the Great Lakes.

the Montreal South Bypass via #30
To quickly get either east of or west of Montreal, without going THROUGH Montreal and getting stuck in the traffic. This toll-route is a great time-saver. You get to see Montreal’s vibrant South Shore communities, but the highlight of this route is TWO bridge crossings over the St Lawrence River and Seaway, plus a tunnel underneath a canal just to the north

Kingston and Montreal via 401
This route follows the mighty Saint Lawrence River from Lake Ontario down to sea level at Montreal. You pass the Thousand Islands at the mouth of Lake Ontario, and just to the south along Highway 2 are many colonial era towns. At Morrisburg, you pass the Upper Canada Village showing life in Canada in 1867. You pass several dams on the St Lawrence Seaway, for navigable waters for the Seaway freighters, and to generate power. After crossing the Ontario-Quebec border, you cross the Ottawa River onto the Island of Montreal.

For most of his adult life, Thor Vikström watched the seasons change and the birds come and go from the small island he owned. At 93, he says he's at peace knowing the land nestled between Montreal and Laval will remain protected long after he's gone.
