Anticipating the Bay of Islands Adventure!

On day 2, we’re embarking on a journey with Fullers Great Sights for a cruise through the Bay of Islands, aiming to see the iconic Hole in the Rock at Motukōkako Island. We’re excited to glide through this natural wonder and maybe even get blessed by the “lucky drip” as we pass underneath.

We’re also on the lookout for dolphins, hoping the bay’s crystal-clear waters reveal its vibrant marine life to us. The visit to Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island is something we’re eagerly awaiting, imagining the peaceful moments on the beach, a refreshing swim, and savouring the local flavours at the café.

Our day will be crowned with a three-course dinner at the Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands, where we’ll toast to the adventures that await us and the natural beauty we’re about to witness.

Meteora is located in Thessaly, Greece, about a 4-hour drive from Athens. There are six of an original 24 monasteries which were built atop natural pillars in the 14th and 15th centuries. You can visit most of them, and most are inhabited by either nuns or monks. One of the nuns told us she makes the best brandy! 😂 Really a spectacular and peaceful place. Great for hiking and climbing too!

Did you know Greece had ski resort towns? They do! Like this cute mountain town at 970 meters (3182 ft). It’s built on the slope of Mount Parnassus close to Delphi. It has beautiful views as you can see! I could’ve stayed a few days!

We’re touring the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece. We covered a lot of ground today from Athens to Olympia. We visited the theatre in Epidaurus with its perfect acoustics, beautiful Nafplio which was the first capital of modern Greece until 1834, and the archaeological site of Mycenae dating back to the 15th century B.C. 🤯
