March is FRAUD PREVENTION month.

“Our message is simple – if you choose to work with an immigration consultant, check that they are licensed by the College on our Public Register,” said John Murray, President & CEO of the College of Immigration and Citizenship, in Canada.

“Checking the Public Register is one of the best ways people can protect themselves from immigration fraud. Fraud can have a devastating impact on people who hope to make Canada their home.”

Misrepresentation comes with a 5 year BAN on reapplying to Canada. Be smart, not expedient.

I got into IMMIGRATION CONSULTING due to the rampant ABUSE I have seen at the hands of private colleges and employers, suffered by foreign nationals working in Canada.

If you (or anyone you know) is being abused OR threatened (while essentially a GUEST in our country) they may be eligible to apply for an open (virtually unrestricted) work permit and LEAVE the abusing employer.

Contact me if need be. I support Canada's decision to NOT TOLERATE that type of behaviour.

Definition of abuse.
For the purposes of this process, “abuse” is defined in section R196.2(1).

Abuse consists of any of the following:

physical abuse, including assault and forcible confinement
sexual abuse, including sexual contact without consent
psychological abuse, including threats and intimidation
financial abuse, including fraud and extortion
reprisals.

“Reprisal” is defined in subsection R196.2(2) as consisting of any measure that is taken by or on behalf of an employer against a foreign national referred to in subparagraph 200(1)(c)(ii.1) or (iii), and that adversely affects the foreign national’s employment or working conditions, because the foreign national has reported that the conditions set out in section 209.2 or 209.3 have not been complied with or because they have cooperated with an inspection conducted under section 209.7, 209.8 or 209.9 in good faith.

Examples of a reprisal would include (but are not limited to) the following:

a disciplinary measure
a demotion
a dismissal
any THREAT to take any of the measures mentioned above.

Stay safe physically and mentally. Do not be afraid to stand up. By saying nothing, you are condoning the behaviour.

Your status in Canada WILL NOT be in any jeopardy by helping us shut down some embarrasingly bad attitudes and behaviours.

The scammers are being exposed. Protect yourself! If you need a licenced Canadian immigration consultant, find Rod Chalmers on facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn.

There are many commercial or private websites that offer immigration or citizenship services. Some promote legitimate representatives’ services that you will need to pay for. Others will offer false guarantees to take your money or steal your private information.

It's tax season.

Be very careful with phone calls, e-mails, messages and other forms of communication.

Do NOT give ANY details to people who say they are from a government agency. Get credentials and call back at a number you find yourself, not the one they just give you.
