Getting close to that time of year !

Currently Offering inlet charters where salmon retention is already open and local catch and release charters before switching over to strictly local areas as retention will open July.15 if it’s anything like last year.

If you’re hoping to get out, I suggest enquiring as soon as you can firm up dates you think might work for you.

It’s looking to be a REALLY good year out there again.
Come make some memories, get in on some coastal BC awesomeness and fill that freezer with up to 7 of your friends ! 🎣

Well, The sun is shining, herring are spawning and that season we all look forward to is fast approaching !
It’s been a VERY busy and chaotic past few months with a house build on the go, a dislocated and broken leg (one month to go 😅) but the elbow grease work has begun, getting ready for THE best return and future first time guests.
To say I can’t wait is an understatement…

It was calm water and fiesty fish this beautiful September morning, the humpback whales were a bonus as well !
Todays group consisted of judges and marshalls here from across Canada for the National Retriever Club of Canada event taking place here in the Comox Valley hosted by the Vancouver Island retriever club.

This is a week long event here with the best retrievers and handlers from all over and FINatic Fishing Charters is happy to be a part of it.
If you have an interest and passion for working dogs like I do, I highly recommend coming out to see what it’s all about!

Day two didn’t disappoint, just phenomenal conditions and steady fish. All the way from Ohio, good to see you again buddy ! I guess it’s a lion hunt next and hit the west coast next year 👌💪

successfully landing a 37lb hog chinook after many silky smooth screaming runs on the TR3 followed by several tense minutes of it holding just outside reach of the net.
We all know how tense those moments are, if there’s a time to lose a big fish, it’s often within 50’ of the boat !

Incredible few days for this crew, two dozen+ fish to the boat, limited out both days and released many fish over 20lbs.
Highlights was a 31lb, 33lb and 37lb Tyees.
Day two had a humpback whale show going on most of the day all around.

10 year wedding anniversary trip to the Island done right !
Fish together to stay together 😎
Fantastic first day, filled the bag and released some nice fish up to 26/27lbs while watching humpbacks from afar.
Not too often you see a sick fish but also let go the thinnest, roughest looking Chinook I’ve seen, 82cm and well over 10 pounds underweight.
Day two tomor, let’s Fish !

4 75-80cm in the bag
First fish and many for Curtis, a tyee for Dustin and incredible fights for all.
Snapped off a monster first fish of the day as well.
Unreal day, unreal average size fish for the Morissette boys, thanks for coming back and see you next year 🎣

Rain, sun, absolutely insane fishing.
Top slot size fish for the bag, a 36 and 28 pound release, a couple in that category lost…. I’d say that’s the perfect day.
Heck of a group back again, can’t wait to see you again next year for more days like this!

Little Grady caught his personal best pushing 30lbs and we definitely lost a handful of big fish as well. Nothing better than watching and helping kids learn !

Big life moment (graduation) celebrated the best way by creating family memories for the Ryan family.
Our day started off watching two other boats turn around due to big water but it was a full send kinda day and the fish gods were beyond generous for being the only boat out for the first 3/4 of the charter.
Well over 20 Chinook to the boat, many over 20lbs, pushing a dozen coho and the rough water ironed right out to finish off our day on glass calm water
Was a pleasure guys !

Super sloppy SE winds today for the first fam jam fish of the year.
There was minimal bait on the screen but we found a pile of fish, approx 15-18 to the boat in a short 3 hour fish, two of which were pushing 25lbs. Avg size today was 14-18lbs and lots of coho as well.
I can’t believe how good fishing is so early this year, it’s just going to get better and better as the migratory fish pass by throughout summer.

Pretty pumped about contributing to a big event happening here on Vancouver island.
Whether it’s pets, working dogs or boat dogs, dogs are a huge part of my life outside fishing especially working dogs going on 20 years now.

The Vancouver Island Retriever Club (VIRC) – the longest standing club of its kind on the Island – will host the next event from Sept. 17-23 in Merville and Black Creek this fall.
IIRC over 70 top notch handlers, the best of the best from all over North America will be in attendance and competing, it’s definitely worth checking out !

Whales aren’t a rare sighting on charters here.
Both orcas and humpbacks are plentiful however this was a first!

This huge bull orca courted and bred these whales around us for over an hour !
You just never know what kind of extras you’ll get on a charter !
