Keith getting up close and personal with the pre-historic Callanish Stone Circle. The stones date from 4000 to 2500 B.C. (!) and were used for rituals in the Bronze age. Just one of the incredible landings on our 2016 Scottish coast voyage.

In honour of our upcoming Pure Scotland voyage this June, 2016, I will be uploading a few images featured on the trip itinerary. This particular picture is from the village on the remote isle of St. Kilda. Our Pure Scotland cruise is, in a word, stunning. Beauty, history, natural wonders and wildlife come together as we sail from Oban to the Inner and Outer Hebrides, the Orkneys, St. Kilda, Rona and the Shetlands finishing in Aberdeen. Met this fellow in the high Arctic while cruising in a Zodiac along the flow edge. He appeared so fast from the maze of ice...the Hanson's and I jumped with fear and excitement. He wound up standing on an ice tower above two sleeping walrus. Polar Bear vs. Tooth Walker? THAT would have been something!

Deception Island, Antarctica - view of the breach in the caldera wall. On Feb 18th, 2015, seismic activity under this volcanic island increased raising the alert to Yellow. The natives must be restless. Keep that Zodiac running just in case... :)

So we're coming into Steeple Jason, a wild island in the far west of the Falklands. Winds howling, swells rolling - Capt. bring us in nice and tight to the landing, our first for the trip. Albatross wheeling across the skies like mosquitoes. As we head ashore, black and white peale's dolphins start bow riding alongside our Zodiac boats splashing us in the face. Gentoo penguins churn the seas in huge bobbing rafts, two bull seal lions are battling over females in the kelp and we can see and smell the huge penguin rookery and world's largest black-browed albatross colony blanketing the shore. Brilliant orange lichen covers every rock glowing like some radioactive lunar landscape. Wind in my hair, spray in the face - it is good to be alive!

Just back from leading our 20-day trip exploring the wonders of the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. Penguins galore, icebergs, seals and so much more. Thanks for the team and guests who made it incredible. Shackleton would have been proud. :)

Taking off for Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands shortly - 20 days of magic, wildlife, history and ice - so excited to share the trip with intrepid friends and guests. The ice charts shows a 90 km-long iceberg between South Georgia and the Peninsula - might have to have a look! :) ...(yes, 90 kms)

Antarctica and the "Green Flash" - Part legend, part science, the green flash is said to be a spark of green light that blinks when the sun drops below the horizon over a calm sea. Our Captain dismissed it as myth but when I got home and developed my slides (yes, slides) - Bingo :0 - there it was.
