The Canadian government released its new immigration plan 🇨🇦for 2025-2027 setting targets for temporary and permanent residents. Swipe >>> and share what you need to know.
Canada is set to welcome 395,000 permanent residents, 305,900 new students, and 367,750 new temporary workers in 2025. Notably, these targets are lesser than this year with🔻 21% fewer permanent residents 🔻 10% fewer students 🔻 16% fewer temporary workers.
Key Changes:
👉🏾Reduced share of temporary residents to 5% of the population by 2026. This means stricter intake caps on study permits, higher living cost requirements for students, and eligibility changes for Post-Graduation and spousal work permits that have already been put in place.
👉🏾Permanent Residence: Increased focus on Francophone immigration outside Quebec
👉🏾Permanent Residence: focus will also be on facilitating PR for skilled workers in priority sectors (like healthcare) and for those already in Canada on student and work permits.
