Do you try street food when you travel? It is my highlight always. Here in Lusaka having Nshima (sadza/Pap/isitshwala) and Goat meat with okra. Super delicious 😋 😍

"Maasai wisdom: harnessing the power of nature.
The Maasai people, known for their resourcefulness in the African savannah, traditionally use elephant dung as a fuel source for making fires. Here's a brief overview of how they do it:
1. **Gathering Elephant Dung:** Maasai individuals collect dried elephant dung from the savannah. This dung is preferred because it has been naturally dried and often contains undigested grass, making it an effective and readily available fuel source.
2. **Breaking it Down:** They break the dried dung into smaller pieces, usually by hand. This process helps to create smaller, more manageable fuel chunks.
3. **Arranging the Fuel:** Maasai typically arrange the pieces of dung in a circular pattern, creating a makeshift fire pit. They leave a small opening in the circle to allow for ventilation and oxygen flow, crucial for igniting and sustaining a fire.
4. **Igniting the Fire:** To start the fire, they use a small amount of dry grass, twigs, or a fire starter placed in the center of the dung circle. With a spark or a small flame, they ignite the grass or twigs, which, in turn, catch the dried elephant dung on fire.
5. **Maintaining the Fire:** Once the fire is burning steadily, they can add larger pieces of elephant dung to keep it going. The dried dung burns relatively slowly, making it an efficient and long-lasting source of heat and cooking fuel.
Using elephant dung as a fuel source is a sustainable practice as it doesn't require cutting down trees or using other finite resources. It's a testament to the Maasai people's deep connection with their environment and their ability to adapt to their surroundings for their daily needs.

About the owner:
I was born and bred in Zimbabwe, immigrated to Canada 17 years ago with my sister, after such a long debate of where to go, we rolled a dice on a map and boom!!! we landed here. Growing up, I wanted to be a flight attendant, but because of my height, I didn't make the cut at the time. I developed a passion for travel over the years, watching National Geographic channel almost every day, I decided to go back to College, did social work for the first year, not sure what I was thinking, but definitely that was not my thing, I switched to Global Tourism and Marketing, loved it and never looked back. I worked for a Travel agency, I got the experience needed to start my own business with Flight Centre Independent, with the luxury of working from the comfort of my home. at first, I struggled because of too much competition online. I got so frustrated with it, until I went to our Flight Centre conference in Mexico, where one of my colleagues asked me how are things going? I told her not sure what I am doing wrong, but nothing is working for me at the moment. We sat along the beach and she said why don't you do African safaris since you are from there, you are one of the most authentic people I know, think about it and do your research, see if you can handle it. I had more Umbrella drinks from that moment and SAFARI was the only thing on my mind, like how did I not even think about this on my own? I came back home and all I did for a few months was figure out logistics, making connections, networking and setting up. Above all sending people on their adventure, but my favourite part is when I listen to the stories from their experience. I would love to meet and talk about your Safari trip, I know you are thinking about it 👉👉
