✨Happy (meaningful) Monday ✨ 🌏 Today is World Youth Skills Day, a day to celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. In today’s , I want to highlight how community tourism helps young people thrive by developing their skills and creating brighter futures. A great example of this is Bike with Purpose. Bike with Purpose is a student-led bicycle tour in Caye Caulker, Belize. Planeterra, in partnership with Ocean Academy, helped create this tour and raised donations for bicycles and other materials. Through this tour and other initiatives, Ocean Academy provides youth with the skills and training they need to work in tourism and hospitality while helping them stay in school. During our latest impact survey, they shared: "We have drastically reduced the high school dropout rate at our institution because students are able to pay for their education through this partnership."Thanks to the visits from G Adventures groups engaging in the Bike with Purpose tour, more youth are able to gain skills and access much-needed funds to power their future. And that's how community tourism can create a positive impact!

My name is Colette Larsen and my passion for travel began in 1999 when I boarded my first ever flight for London, England. After a full week of exploring this beautiful city - and a quick weekend jaunt over to Brussels - I quickly learned that travel was the life for me.
25 countries later, my passion has not faltered. Some of my tour highlights have been sea kayaking in BC, staying at a research station in the heart of the Amazon, camping on the Serengeti, hiking the Franz Josef Glacier, dune buggy adventures in Dubai, climbing a volcano in Costa Rica, viewing a Shuttle Launch at Cape Canaveral, relaxing on the beaches of Zanzibar and cruising the Adriatic Sea.
My travels have also taken me across Canada many times. I have driven across the country and seen the beauty that each corner and each group of Canadians has to offer. I have travelled the East Coast a number of times and love to share some of the unique experiences I have had there. BC is also a spot I have visited a number of times, with lots of adventure travel to be had on the mainland and lots of exploring done on Vancouver Island.
I lived for a year in beautiful Australia and have a real passion for this country. I have been almost everywhere....driven the circumference of the continent and down the Red Centre twice! Side trips to Fraser Island, Kangaroo Island and the Hutt River Province were all unique experiences in their own way!
I also lived for a year in Calgary and took every opportunity to explore the beauty that Alberta has to offer. From the breathtaking beauty of Banff and Lake Louise to the serene lodges of Jasper, to the relaxing hot springs dotted throughout the mountains, the educational and unique Drumheller, the expanse of the West Edmonton Mall and the fun and wonderfully different spots such as Vulcan and Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo-Jump, I have explored and enjoyed it all!
I love to take all the above experiences and adventures and use them to help you plan the vacations which are right for you! Because it is my passion, you can rest assured that I plan your trips as if I were taking them myself.
