Check out this inspiring video from Thunder Bay - CBC went fat biking with the fine folks from the BlackSheep Mountain Bike Club!

There are so many great places to fat bike in Northern Ontario (and province-wide), including more and more trails groomed in the winter for this super fun type of cycling.

While we don't necessarily recommend fat biking on frozen lakes (if you do, go with someone experienced and make sure to drill and check ice thickness), if you find yourself in Thunder Bay check out the excellent groomed trails at Centennial Park and Trowbridge Forest at the former Shuniah Mines.

Are you doing any indoor riding this winter?
Depending on trainer and bike set up you choose, it can be a relatively inexpensive fitness option to keep you riding during the coldest months of the year. While there are a number of online training apps available Zwift is one of the most popular, where you can ride in the virtual world as well as join organized events and races. Check out this article for more info: https://www.redbull.com/se-en/zwift-beginner-guide

Ready for some Thanksgiving weekend fall colours rides? Wellington County (Elora, Fergus, Rockwood, Erin, Town of Minto and more!) just launched seven new signature cycling routes for riders of all levels.

The new signature cycling routes make the most of the region’s rail trails (Kissing Bridge/G2G, Elora-Cataract, and more), take riders on scenic rural roads, to beautiful lookouts, and to unique businesses and destinations worth every pedal stroke to get there.

While technically not part of the county, but located at its centre, the City of Guelph is a gateway to the county and easily accessible via GO Transit and VIA Rail.

"Having long heard about the Hydrocut Trails located in the western end of Kitchener, it wasn’t until recently that I got the chance to load up my mountain bike and head to this acclaimed trail system, renowned in the mountain bike community. The 35km of trails, that are diverse and appealing to a wide variety of riders, are certainly worth the trip, whether coming from near or far – for any time out on this spectacular trail system."
