Spring at the Butchart Gardens. The first tour of the year at the Butchart Gardens , they just opened for 2022 season this past Monday. You can see there is plenty of flowers popping up, and the daffodils are plentiful. Their spring display in the Poppy Seed Cafe is beautiful.

On today's tour we had lunch at Kuhuna Burger in Duncan, it was a fantastic recommendation from my daughter and it was a big it with our guest, so thank you, Dominique. It was honestly one of the best burgers I've had on the island so far and brought a big competition to the Cowichan burger at Unsworth Bistro.
His partner or brother, as it may be, has Aloha Bowls right around the corner and is equally as good, so you have great options.
We had a crazy time finding a place to eat as quite a few businesses have closed in Mill Bay and around the Cowichan Valley and Cowichan Bay area. It is very sad to see this happening to such great places.

When we were at the upper Goldstream Falls today we were fortunate enough to run into a local woman that had a pet wolf, Incredibly beautiful animal. This was my first encounter with them but I'm sure some locals may know them very well.

We had a nice relaxing New Years Day Hike to Both Goldstream Falls. Be cautious there is plenty of slippery areas, and the stairs down to the lower falls were a bit slippery.

A nice lining of snow at the Hatley Castle. Turned out to be a beautiful day aside from the snow, it was a beautiful tour. This may also be one of our last tours for the 2021 season and what a way to end 2021.

Laser lights in the forest walk through to the sunken Gardens at the Butchart Gardens. It's part of their Christmas light display. It was fun to look at while it was.snowing, you will see the the glitter In the video.

The Butchart Gardens under a blanket of snow.
Considering the weather it was still very busy last night at the gardens, I got our group early to avoid the long line ups, but the staff worked quickly to get everyone one through in good time.
Just a heads up for locals as well as tourists, the new admission gates accept tickets scanned by QR Code on your phone so no need to line up for tickets anymore. The Gardens are offering their christmas light display until Jan.06.

We had a beautiful hike Christmas day around Thetis lake burning off some calories for the christmas dinner ahead. We were lucky enough here in Victoria to wake up to a sprinkle of snow for Christmas so it turned out to be a white Christmas in Victoria.
