Update: He's been found!!!!

Hi Facebookland!!! My daughter's friend lost her cockatiel yesterday. He stands about 6-7" tall. She says he won't typically land on trees as they move too much. The last time she saw it, it was in the Dr Kearney/Whispering winds area. It's name is Pickle. This weather is pretty cold for this type of bird, so please let me know if you see it around.

Well, it's been a minute since I've been in the studio or posted any 'At-home' workshops. Honestly, it's been a very peaceful summer for me. This is the first summer I've taken off since I opened the studio....and it is pure bliss.

BUT, it's time to slowly get back at it. So I'm posting some more 'At-home' Workshops, which will start next Wednesday! Please read my previous post on my page, as well as the 'Notes' section, to learn how they work. I'm currently trial-running a couple of new projects and will hopefully have those for the next posting. But for now, here are the workshops I am currently offering. Well, this post has taken me a couple of days to write. And to be completely honest, I wasn't going to. But I just can't let my little studio go without honouring it the way it deserves. Handingnover the keys was so incredibly hard. I loved this place. I still love this place. It was my heart and soul for three years. I poured more sweat, more tears, and more effort into it than I have anything else, ever before. I am heartbroken....but I know this is not the end. I know there is another studio out there just waiting for the love we can give it. But I will never forget this piece of my heart. I love you, my little studio. ❤❤ @ Fort Saint John, British Columbia

Hi everyone! I've come to the decision to move the current studio to my home studio. As of June 1st, I will be offering all 'At-home' Video Workshops from there. It has been a hard decision to make, but I believe this is the best move for my little business, for right now. But only for now! My hope is to re-open in a new space this fall for face-to-face workshops again. However, I have gotten amazing feedback for the video workshops and have some exciting projects I can't wait to offer through those!! I can still help you organize private parties, birthdays, team building workshops, etc! You just get to be the host in your own spaces! Thank you all so much for your understanding and support through these weird days and adapting with me as we go. But I see bright days ahead and am looking forward to new ideas and, with it, endless creativity!! I will be at the current studio next week, Wednesday and Thursday 11-1pm if you have a piece that needs picked up! Otherwise, message the page and I will give you new pick-up details. We all like pockets on skirts, so why not pockets on walls?! They can hold air plants, keys, viney plants, mail, succulent plants, stuff, green plants, other stuff, and plants!!!! Register for an 'At-home' Wall Pocket Video Workshop to build your very own to hold all the things!! I will walk you through a basic wall pocket, then you are free to put your own flare into it! Once registered, on the day your workshop begins (Wednesdays), you will be emailed the video demo and will be sent a reminder to come to the studio to pick up your clay kit, Wednesdays and Thursdays 11am-1pm. MOTHER'S DAY 'AT-HOME' VIDEO WORKSHOP!!! Register for a Mother's Day activity that the whole family builds together at your very own kitchen table!! This project is good for any age and skill level, but definitely needs adult hands to help out if there are littles. These have turned out so amazing in the past by other builder families, so I am excited to offer it in our new video workshops! 3 years. This past saturday was my three year anniversary of opening the studio. It came with zero fanfare as these times don't seem like the right time to celebrate. I cried. It seems like many years of striving, pushing, and stressing to get to where I am now. My little labour of love. I was told that if a business could survive three years, that you really, truly had a successful business. Some days I don't feel successful at all. Some days I feel like I've conquered it. But every day I keep looking forward and pushing onward. This success seems very bitter sweet, as the future is so unknown. But I will keep the road ahead in my sights and hopefully get to celebrate my accomplishments soon. I have you all to thank so deeply for giving me a reason to keep going and fighting all these years, although it seems like only yesterday that I had my first workshop. Time moves so slow, yet head-spinningly fast at the same time. I look forward to being able to look back at this time and seeing where I've gotten in the next (fingers crossed) three years. Hold strong everyone. I'm sure the next chapter is just over the much sunnier horizon. Much love, always. ~Richelle

THE FIRST 'AT-HOME' VIDEO WORKSHOP IS AVAILABLE!!!!

And we're starting with Garden Gnomes!

This is a project that is great for kids and adults, so will make for an excellent family hangout activity or something to help you tune this crazy and chaotic world out for just a little bit. You can each build your own or work on one together! All pieces needed for this project will be included in your kit.

These little guys are safe to leave outside, once the danger of freezing is gone! So start thinking about how to incorporate it into your gardens!! Click the 'Learn More' button for more information and to register!

NOW INTRODUCING 'AT HOME' VIDEO WORKSHOPS!!!

Here's how it will work:

1) Click the 'Learn More' button, which will take you to the information and registration page. All workshops will "start" on Wednesdays. Once you register (which can be done at any time), your video will be emailed to you on the 'starting' Wednesday. You will have access to your video for one week (7 days), as clay does not have a long shelf life unless watched closely. I will eventually have a larger list of pieces to choose from, but just one off the hop (POSTING SOON), then increasing every week as I come up with new ideas.
2) You will get a reminder on the Wednesday morning after you register to come to the studio to pick up (brought to your vehicle; message when you pull up) your clay and any other items you will need. The studio will be "open" on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11am-1pm, however, NO ONE will enter the studio except me.
3) Once you are finished building your piece, it must be brought back to the studio (I will come out to grab it from your vehicle, fully masked and gloved ;) ) during the hours I'm there. I will have instructions with your clay on how to wrap it once you're done. Once I have your finished pieces, they will be quarantined for a few days, and then I will fire and glaze as usual, contacting you once they are finished.

I know that doesn't cover every question you might have, but please message me if you need any clarification. I will be posting more info in the coming days, to help with ideas and confusion. It's a big change, especially the 'me on video' part (eeeek!), but we'll iron out the kinks together!! However, your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated!! Remember, we're all in this together

This 'working from home' thing isn't so bad... although Olive's chin keeps sliding over to the touch pad and jumping the screen around to random spots. Keeps it fresh and interesting..... 🙄 At least she's stopped biting at the cursor on the screen. So that's a win.

So, while I've had HOURS to contemplate and brainstorm, I've come up with an idea.....video clay workshops that you can do at your own kitchen table!! This is still in the planning phases, but I think completely feasible. You will still sign up as usual, will be sent a video demo of whatever piece you've chosen to build, pick up your clay from the studio (delivered to your vehicle window. Don't be surprised if I am in a full respirator mask. I use it when I glaze), build your piece on your own schedule (for a set time-frame...a couple weeks??), then once done and after a couple days of drying, bring it back to the studio where I will finish it for you!! Yes/No??

Right now I'm just figuring out safety measures , as the clay itself will need it's own 'quarantine', and how best to deliver the video demo. I sadly had to cancel my upcoming Kid's Spring Break Workshops, so will perhaps contact those who were so gracious and understanding, to be my 'trial run participants' (I will contact you!!). I hope this idea will give families the chance to do something out of the norm and to help fill the long days of isolation. Well, in light of current situations, I've decided to close shop for a little bit. This IS NOT an easy decision and I've shed many tears because of it, as not many small businesses can stay open for long under these circumstances, myself included, but we will hold on as long as possible. However, that being said, I refuse to put any of my customers (and people in my own life) at risk, as workshops do not allow for much 'social distancing' or personal space. I'm usually right up in your business helping you with your piece, as well as everyone else's at the same time. If you've been to a workshop, you'll get it. We can sometimes get real up-close and personal. ;) But AS SOON as the dust settles, I will start putting in workshops again, private and public. In the meantime, support your community as much as possible! Our community has so many amazing small businesses that need your support now more than ever. If possible, purchase from them. It can be products, gift certificates, gifts for others. Anything will help. Even just verbal support will go a LOOOONG way. But more than anything, take care of yourselves and eachother. Well, another amazing year has come to pass!! The ups. He downs. It's all part of the process, and as the decade comes to a close, make sure to hold on to what makes your heart beat. Thank you all for your amazing support and encouragement of our little local mud hole. I am more in love with the studio than ever and can't wait to jump into another year of making art, encouraging art, and living art. And I hope to see all your beautiful faces when we kick into gear in the next decade!! The studio will be closed for some much needed rest and cleaning(!!!) until mid/end of January, but will kick it into gear for February!! Have a wonderful holiday season everyone!!
