- Disney Cruise Line COVID-19 Protocols Modifications

Disney Cruise Line is taking a phased approach to updating health and safety protocols on board. Considering recently updated guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DCL will update several health and safety measures for sailings beginning on or after April 1, 2022, originating from a U.S. port of departure.

Some onboard products and experiences that were paused due to physical distancing protocols will resume in a phased approach. Protocol updates, among other, include lifting physical distancing across DCL ships and resuming self-service buffets. Face coverings are optional in most places on the ship including Walt Disney Theater. Port Adventures will return to their traditional format where possible. At this time, the Sail Away Celebration, the Pirate’s Night deck party, and up-close character interactions continue to be paused.

Protocols for sailings from Canadian and European ports may vary and will be communicated at a later time. Health and safety measures, on each ship or fleetwide, may change at any time without notice.

New Announcement from Westjet - New daily service!

Summer schedule was announced today, which marks a significant milestone in WestJet's recovery through the restoration of their network to near pre-pandemic levels.

This summer they will serve 43 domestic, 23 transborder, 16 Caribbean and eight transatlantic destinations including new daily service between Toronto (YYZ) and Chicago (ORD) beginning on May 19, 2022, and Calgary (YYC) to Boston (BOS) in late June. These new routes provide increased options and the ability to seamlessly connect to other destinations in their expansive network.

Toronto – Chicago, beginning May 19, 2022, daily
Calgary – Boston, beginning June 30, 2022, three times weekly

They are also making significant investments in their transatlantic network, offering a multitude of connections to Europe this summer, with more non-stop service options across the country from Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax.

Happy Belated International Womens Day! Love that Disney is Celebrating Women’s History Month at Disneyland Resort

Throughout March, Disneyland Resort is paying tribute to Women’s History Month in a variety of ways, celebrating women and their inspiring contributions through art, song, food and stories.

The first female star is none other than Minnie Mouse, who for the first time, has her own floral display at the main entrance of Disneyland Park! The creation of Floral Minnie was led by Disneyland Resort Horticulture Specialist Stacy Wise and a team of 13 horticulturists. Minnie’s iconic bow consists of 750 individual Nemesia flowers, and the display overall has 1,900 individual plants, including pansies, violas and petunias. And her eyelashes are adorable!

Additionally, the Downtown Disney District brings several special offerings throughout Women’s History Month!

Chalk muralist Marcella Swett is returning to the Downtown Disney District! From March 15-31, 2022, she will create two different designs honoring women, located near the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage. Swett, a senior production artisan with Disney Live Entertainment, is an award-winning visual artist and native Southern Californian whose career has spanned more than three decades.

Sprinkles is introducing their first Female Chef Series for Women’s History Month! Launching with Dark Chocolate Passion Fruit, this decadent dark chocolate cake filled with a delicious passion fruit curd was crafted by the Chef Brooke Williamson. As part of the series, Sprinkles is also making a donation to the Step Up Network to help empower young women with the skills and resources to reach their full potential. Dark Chocolate Passion Fruit will be baking until March 13.

Ballast Point Brewing Co. is also paying homage to famous female chefs with special menu items inspired by these chefs who represent different eras, cuisines and talents that pushed boundaries and paved new ways in the culinary world.

Lovepop is featuring a unique assortment of empowering 3D greeting cards with phrases such as “Stronger Together” and “Girl Power,” and a pop-up card of Star Wars’ Princess Leia.

Guests can also shop at women-owned businesses in Downtown Disney District including Post 21 and Kayla’s Cake.

- The world got a first look at the newest Disney Cruise Line ship when the beautiful Disney Wish completed a major milestone known as “float out.”

During this momentous event, the Disney Wish touched water for the very first time, then made a grand exit from the enclosed building dock where it has been constructed. And to say this was a wish come true for Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Cruise Line would be an understatement. They celebrated the occasion in true Disney style with fireworks, music and even a special appearance by Captain Minnie Mouse herself … and they are so excited to share this special moment with you, too! Check out the video below to witness the incredible “float out” of the Disney Wish!

The ship will remain alongside the pier for several weeks before its next important milestone, when it is be conveyed stern-first down the River Ems to the port of Eemshaven, Netherlands. In the meantime, Disney will continue construction and interior outfitting to bring all the amazing new experiences aboard this enchanted ship to life.

When I received this card from my client I was reminded of why I do what I do and why I love it.

It reminded me of the importance of booking all travel through a trusted travel agent vs. Online or through an app…here is the background story that started out hopeless but ended happily.

One early morning, my new client emailed, texted, called and facebooked me before 6am…groggily and half asleep still, I called her to understand her needs and how I could help. Her 20 year old daughter was stuck in Paris and missed her flights back to Canada due to the wrong type of covid testing prior to boarding the plane.

I first asked if the traveller was able to call the app that she booked the flights through and she couldn’t find a phone number only an email and she was not getting any responses 😳 In the airport, there was no support from the airlines to rebook the flights and new one way tickets from Paris to Kelowna was $5000 per passenger!!!

What could I do to help? Well, because I was not the original booking agent and I didn’t have access to the app or tickets, it was looking hopeless that I could do anything to help. I asked if the traveller had insurance (another MUST for travelling and any good travel agent will advise this), sadly her insurance had expired and she was not covered for trip interruption and any expenses to get home would be out of pocket!

I called my head office for support and directly called Air Canada to see what we could do. To my surprise and because of TPI’s relationship with Air Canada I was able to rebook the missed flights (free of charge) and only had to book a one way from Vancouver to Kelowna for the last leg of the trip as it was not booked through Air Canada … a far cry from $5000!

Can you imagine how stressed the traveller was and devastated that her insurance ran out and feeing stuck and helpless. I am so grateful they called me and I was able to help my client home. I am also grateful that they were this appreciative for the support and they told me they would NEVER book travel without an agent (me) in the future.

Starting this spring, WestJet has a new non-stop seasonal service between Calgary (YYC) and London Heathrow (LHR) beginning on March 26, 2022. Service will operate four-times weekly on the 787 Dreamliner, which features lie-flat pods and dining on demand in the Business Cabin and elevated Premium and Economy Cabin options.

The new route provides access to London's largest airport with close and rapid access to important destinations in London and complements our year-round flights to London-Gatwick (LGW).
