Coquihalla : Popular tourist attractions in Hope, BC Kw'ikw'iya:la (Coquihalla) in the Halq'emeylem language of the Stó:lō, is a place name meaning "stingy container."
It refers to a fishing rock near the mouth of what is now known as the Coquihalla River.
This rock is a good platform for spearing salmon. OthelloTunnels:The Othello Tunnels are a series of old train tunnels and bridges that cut through the solid granite walls and pass over the wild Coquihalla River. The tunnels are located just east of the town of Hope, BC, in the Coquihalla Provincial Park and the trail is a short, flat 3.5km return route. Tunnels are a series of five tunnels originally built for railway access, and now part of the Trans Canada Trail system. Built in the early 1900s, the Othello Tunnels were constructed by the Canadian Pacific Railway to link the Kootenay Region with the BC coast by rail. If you really want, you can get through the Othello Tunnels and go back in 45 minutes, but there are so many beautiful views on the way, that you will probably spend here at least 1,5 hour, and the preferred time is 2 hours, especially if you have a camera and want to make some photos. **Flashlights are strongly recommended for anyone walking or cycling through the tunnels. *I recommend using the washroom located in the parking lot before going through the tunnel. (Be sure to bring toilet paper with you. There are so many visitors that you won't be able to see toilet paper~😂)
I didn't see the washroom from the tunnel until I returned to the parking lot.
