We would like to take this time to congratulate each of you for having made it through this year, for all the success you have experienced during these crazy times, and for all the courage and resilience you have shown.

It's time for our Christmas cookie recipe! (for 6 persons)
🍪 1 egg
🍪 85g Sugar
🍪 85g Butter
🍪 150g Flour
🍪 100g Chocolate chips
🍪 1 bag Vanilla sugar
🍪 1 teaspoon baking powder
🍪 1 teaspoon salt

Step 1: In a bowl, mix the melted butter with the sugar. Add the egg and the vanilla sugar.
Step 2: Slowly add the flour, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips. Mix well.
Step 3: Ground a baking sheet or cover it with a silicone sheet. Using two tablespoons or just your hands, form dough balls, spacing them out as they will spread when baked.
Step 4: Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 360°F. Remove as soon as the edges start to get brown.

Open from mid-November until Christmas Eve, the Vancouver Christmas Market has a German theme. Numerous European-style stalls sell everything from German beer steins to specialty soaps, chocolates, handicrafts and craft-distilled spirits. You will find a lot of home-made and local products. Enjoy the smell of candles, Christmas decorations and warm, fuzzy, clothes... But also mulled wine, the famous Raclette, Pretzels and many other specialties! This place brings the magic of Christmas to life!

- Transylvania was the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, the real-life inspiration for Dracula. You can drink “Dracula blood” shots and join the party at Dracula’s Castle on Halloween night!
- Mexico: Día de Mu***os, the whole country becomes one big party! Mexico’s Day of the Dead is a celebration with music, candy, flowers, candles...and tequila!
- USA: especially in Salem (Massachusetts). This town is infamous for the Salem Witch Trials of the 1690s, in which 25 accused as “witches” were executed!
- Canada: Vancouver has an appealing selection of creepy and terrifying attractions! Head to the Haunted Village at the Burnaby Village Museum or book an evening at Fright Nights at the PNE!

Did you know that Halloween actually has its roots in Ireland, Scotland, and even Mexico? 🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇲🇽

It dates back to an ancient Celtic pagan tradition called Samhuinn (pronounced saw-win) which celebrated the transition from summer to winter. During this time, it was suggested that the divide between the world of the living and the world of the supernatural shifted and that mystical creatures could move between the realms of the dead and the living more freely. This could be the spooky origin of our modern-day Halloween.

Another celebration linked to Halloween is the Mexican festival of the Day of the Dead, which is celebrated on November 2, the same day as All Souls’ Day in early Christianity. The Day of the Dead traditions come from pre-Colombian cultures, celebrated in the ninth month of the Aztec calendar. It is believed that this day dates back 2,500-3,000 years.
