Last night saw a beautiful and rare nighttime phenomenon in 🇨🇦 Banff National Park: light pillars! ✨ While they look a bit like the Northern Lights, this shimmering display has nothing to do with solar activity and everything to do with very cold temperatures (like -20C!) ❄️ The pillars are created when ice crystals in the atmosphere reflect light, from either town lights, or natural sources like the moon. ⚡New in 2025: ⚡Travel requirements for visiting Europe and the UK are changing. Non-EU citizens (including all North Americans) will need an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) in addition to a passport to visit Europe. These short stay travel authorizations will come into effect in spring 2025 for most European nations, and are rolling out as an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) on January 8 for entry into the UK. You can apply online, and they take several days to process, so make sure you don't turn up to an airport without one! Full details in links below:
