We can put together a world class tour, but it takes a village to make for a world class experience, so thank you all for being so awesome!

Should we think about wildlife as we travel?

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this! Please let us know what you think in the comments below.

Some points we often ponder:

- Seeing wildlife in its natural habitat can be an incredible experience. Animals are so at home in nature, and seeing their authentic day to day moments is something that can really help us connect with our surroundings and learn about the connections that surround us.
- Seeing and appreciating wildlife can help us understand how important sustainability is.
- Humans interacting with wild animals certainly isn't part of an authentic day to day moment for wild animals, so how are we disrupting their day to day lives?
- Travelling solely with the goal of seeing wildlife can be really disappointing if the wildlife decides to be wild and do it's own thing somewhere private. When we feel disappointed by this, are we not seeing the forest for the trees in a sense?!
- As guides, we often encounter wildlife consistently before a tour starts while we are preparing and living in the tour environment. Then when the tour starts all the wildlife gets really shy, which can lead to guests feeling disappointed. It's tough to expect to arrive somewhere for a week and see everything that the locals enjoy while living there year round. This is the same for Northern Lights, Surf, Powder Days in the Winter. If only social media would let us know how many failed attempts went into the epic photos we see online!

What do you think? Should humans travel places to see wildlife? Or should wildlife just be a pleasant surprise along the way? Or should we actively avoid all wildlife encounters?!

Here is why you should be exploring Grotto Canyon on your Rockies trip:
1- It's the least crowded canyon walk in the Rockies
2- There are 1300 year old pictographs on the wall (don't touch them)
3- There is a waterfall cascading down into a gully
4- There is a grotto used by travelers long ago
5- It's easy and accessible, only 25 minutes from Banff!

Sometimes in life it's not the places you see but the people you meet!

Roughly 60 percent of our guests are solo travelers who prefer to hang out with other people on our small group tours. What could be a better way to meet new friends than embark on a wild adventure together!?

07/28/2024

There aren't words to describe how awesome all the epic people have been on our tours so far this summer! Our guides are stoked, our guests are stoked, we're stoked...... it's all just amazing!!!

And we're just getting started! We couldn't be more stoked for the rest of the tours this summer, and we have something that we are already pretty stoked about for next summer, but it's still a secret for now.

There is something so wonderful about a chairlift ride.
Sitting in the cold, chatting with someone who is having just as epic a day as you are.
Being borne away to a playground filled with everything you desire.
Breathing in fresh mountain air, and earning that dark, malty apres beer.
(was that a haiku?!?)

Is there anything better? Let us know in the comments!

Planning a hiking trip? Hoping it'll be epic?
Perhaps some of these ideas and tips will help you make the most of your time!

1- Plan early... many of the trails have limited backcountry sites and they book up quickly. This is especially important if you are hoping to book more than one tent pad for a larger group!
2- Venture to lesser known areas... not only does this help you feel more alone in the wilderness, it's also far easier to book backcountry sites. Some of the lesser known areas are just as stunning as the infamous ones!
3- Go with friends!.. adding some friends to the mix can make things more fun and lively along the way, plus it's nice to have people to share the load with!
4- Go at the fringes of the season... while the weather can definitely be more unpredictable at the beginning and end of the season, we often prefer these dates. A) there are often less bugs B) with inclement weather come some really dramatic photos and views as the mist clears, the dark clouds roll through, the frost accentuates the peaks... you get it!
5- Plan extra time... while most people plan their hikes in the recommended amount of time, having an extra day, or two to head out for a day hike or just relax and enjoy where you're at can be a real treat!
6- Plan hikes overseas! Travelling to other places can be amazing, but sometimes the ordinary vacation can be made into a life changing mission by heading somewhere with the intention of doing a really cool hike there. The cultural twists along the way are all just part of the fun.

So what are you waiting for!? Let us know where you plan to hike next in the comments, or click the "get in touch" link in bio if you'd like to join a hiking tour with our professional guides and fun groups!

Seeing a black bear mother (sow) with her cub is an incredible experience.
(One that should be enjoyed from a very safe distance).
Bear cubs have all the innocence and goofiness of a puppy. Watching them keep up with Mom can be hilarious.

There are glaciers and there are glaciers. This would be the latter. The Kaskawulsh Glacier is partially in Kluane National Park, just a few hours from Whitehorse. You can see the glacier by hiking the Slims River Trail, and ideally getting up high on Observation Mountain.

We love the Yukon for many reasons, but the sheer magnitude of everything is one of the top! While you work for opportunities to see the last remaining glaciers in most parts of the world, Kluane is still 82% covered in ice.

Our Yukon Hiking Tours visit Kluane for a couple of days, doing two of the best hikes in the area:
- Sheep Creek Trail
- King's Throne Tail
Both of these hikes reward hikers with unreal views.

Wapta Falls is an easy side trip in Yoho NP. It's accessed by a 1 km walk that is mostly flat. The falls are absolutely worth a visit and the spray can have a nice cooling effect on a hot day!
This is the perfect activity to add to an adventure around Golden, BC.

Hiking in the Yukon feels unlike hiking in other places. It's the same concept... walk up and down a trail, surrounded by mountains, but something about it is different. The landscapes are so big, with so much going on, yet nothing going on. No people, no buses, no parking lots and line up, no selfie sticks.
Just you, some friends and an endless amount of vastness.
This is the ridge leading up to King's Peak on our 7 Day Yukon Hiking Tour.
We are excited to be running this tour again this August 25th!
