Humpback Whales are renowned for their spectacular breaches, where they launch their massive bodies out of the water, creating an awe-inspiring splash. But why do they breach? While the exact reasons remain a mystery, scientists believe breaches may serve several purposes:

🌊Communication: The sound of the splash can travel far underwater, possibly sending signals to other whales.
🐋Play and Social Behavior: Breaching may simply be a form of social interaction or play among these highly intelligent mammals.
🩶Parasite Removal: The force of the breach may help dislodge barnacles and other parasites from their skin.

Did you know humpbacks can weigh up to 40 tons yet still display such graceful acrobatics? Seeing a breach in person is a reminder of the power and beauty of our oceans.

Ever seen a Humpback Whale’s blow? These impressive sprays of mist are more than just a beautiful sight—they’re a key part of how whales breathe!

What is a blow? It’s the whale exhaling warm air and moisture from its lungs through its blowholes, which are located on top of its head.

How big is it? A Humpback Whale’s blow can shoot up to 10 feet high!

Why does it look like mist? As the warm air meets the cooler ocean air, it condenses into a visible cloud, making the blow easy to spot from a distance.

Humpback blows are a signature sign that these gentle giants are near, and they’re always a breathtaking sight to witness on the water.
