Today's Remembrance Day ceremony at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club was a moving tribute to the heroes who sacrificed for our freedom. Guided by the Honorary Commodore and Parade Commander, John Green, the event was a solemn occasion.

Attendees gathered near the flagpole, marking the beginning of the ceremony with a heartfelt opening prayer led by Reverend Edwin Taylor. As the Parade Commander, John Green, read aloud the names of those who valiantly fell in World War I and World War II, each name echoed through the air, emphasizing the immense sacrifice made for our freedom.

In a poignant tradition, members present cast lilies into the water as each name was recited—a simple yet powerful act of remembrance.

Let us carry the spirit of Remembrance Day with us, honoring the memory of those who gave their all for our future. 🇨🇦🕊️

With great sadness we acknowledge that our longest reigning monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, died on Thursday September 8, 2022.

Our yacht club, founded in 1892, was given “Royal“ designation in 1911 by HM Queen Elizabeth’s grandfather, King George V. It is an honour which we continue to enjoy and appreciate.

In recognition of the loss to Great Britain and the British Commonwealth including Canada, indeed to the world, all Royal Victoria Yacht Club flags are now flying at half-mast and this will continue until sunset on the day of the national memorial service at Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa.

God save our king, King Charles III.
