BC Whale Tours

BC Whale Tours The rugged beauty of the West Coast is something that should be experienced with Victoria’s boutique whale watching company.
(114)

The wildlife and limitless adventure that the Salish Sea has to offer is easily enjoyed when you leave the crowds behind. Our whale watching tours off the Southern Coast of Victoria, British Columbia consist of viewing residential and transients Orca pods, migrating Humpback Whales, Grey Whales and other marine animals that reside in our coastal waters. OUR COMMITMENT:

We believe that lowering ou

r immediate impact on the animals that we are passionate about and inspired by is the biggest and most responsible aspect of being in the Whale Watching Industry. On the West Coast we are the pioneers in this aspect by investing in the latest technology that enables us to have the lowest impact on the environment and wildlife. We have the latest hull designs and engines that drastically reduce noise pollution and carbon emissions. This ensures our passengers have a smooth, safe and comfortable ride in all West Coast weather conditions. It also guarantees that we have the lowest carbon footprint of any other Whale Watching Vessel in Canada

Everything we do on this planet impacts the ocean in some way. All water systems lead back to the ocean through the hydrologic cycle, nearly everything we consume in the Western world had to cross an ocean first to get to us, and much of our global food is sourced from the vast big blue. On this we would like to think about those impacts closer to home that affect the creatures we love so dearly here in the .

Over the years we have seen an increase in shipping traffic that has impacted the population of Southern Resident killer whales and their ability to use echolocation for their very specialized diet of Chinook salmon. The total number of ’s is now just 74.

As our focus shifts away from the resident killer whales, we notice the strange and fascinating ways in which nature works - we wouldn’t dare say it is a balance, however, in our local waters we are seeing more humpback and gray whales stay for longer periods instead of just passing through on their way to richer feeding grounds. And the so-called ‘transient’ (Biggs) orcas, are certainly proving to be far less transitory as we now see them nearly every day, whereas in past years we had far less frequent sightings.

We are mindful of this flux and are always keeping our finger on the pulse to know what our limitations are and where our help is needed. Every tour price includes a wildlife conservation fee that goes to supporting the incredible whales of our local waters, and those organizations and researchers doing the amazing work to ensure policy and regulations are aligned with the health and well-being of these animals.
