Even though school in back in Summer is not over yet!!

We still have lots of tours available
We have 9:00am 3 hour tours. 1:00pm and 4:00pm 2 hour tours

With lots of great wildlife encounters left to be had at this time of year.

We always enjoy taking these guests out.

For the past two seasons we have been taking guests out from Tapestry Victoria every two weeks. It has been a great opportunity for us.
Last week we had the pleasure of having the news down with them to watch them launch.

There has been a study going on with the residents of tapestry on staying active and we are so excited to be a part of their activities.

Out at the Harrison Islands we have a hot spot for seal watching. On a sunny tour you can see them soaking up the sun and when it’s raining you can find them swimming around your kayak! Harbor seals have coats that vary in colour to help them blend into their surroundings, from silver-gray to brown or black and are often scattered with many fine to medium spots. Their coats provide excellent camouflage on pebbled beaches and rocky shores.

We can never get enough of these majestic birds. If you’re lucky (and quiet) they’ll pose for you to to capture a few photos out on the water. Did you know the Great blue heron stays cool in the summer by drooping and opening it’s wings to help air circulate and remove excess heat. I always thought they were just soaking up the sun! With an open beak it will also flutter it’s throat muscles to increase evaporation. Come see if you can spot a Great blue heron on one of our tours this season!

Job Description: We are currently seeking a certified sea kayak guide to join our team for the summer of 2024. Whether you're looking for full-time, part-time, or occasional opportunities, we welcome passionate individuals who are eager to share their love for kayaking with others. As a sea kayak guide with Kelp Reef, your responsibilities will include:
* Conducting 2-hour and 3-hour guided tours of Victoria Harbour
* Providing exceptional customer service to guests, ensuring their safety and enjoyment throughout the experience
* Assisting with the setup and cleanup of equipment before and after tours
* Demonstrating proficiency in kayaking techniques and environmental knowledge
* Working independently and collaboratively within a small team environment
* Maintaining equipment and ensuring its proper functionality
* Upholding company policies and safety protocols at all times
Qualifications:
* Certified sea kayak guide with relevant training and certifications
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Dependable and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
* Ability to manage groups of varying sizes and skill levels
* Knowledge of local marine ecosystems and history is preferred
