Can an e-bike be the solution to rising fuel costs?

A decent e-bike will cost around $1800. One tank of fuel for a four cylinder car costs around $137 (today, gas price is 1.97). Most four-cylinder cars get around 480km in the city on one tank of gas. The average number of kilometers driven annually by BC drivers is 13,100km, so that means we spend around $3800 yearly on fuel. If you consider using your e-bike for just half of your yearly kilometers, then the combined e-bike and fuel costs are not greater than you would have spent on fuel only. If you replace more than half of the kilometers travelled in a year then you have officially saved money, made yourself healthier, contributed positively to climate action, and had some fun on your cool e-bike!
