We are back again this month for the next full moon with .booth ! Come join us in using materials from the land to create unique, functional and sustainable art at our Lantern Making Workshop.

Sandy and Candy - January 1 2025
- we were at my house getting ready to go for a walk and all of a sudden
- "whales" Sandy shouted and we were in hot pursuit; we ran down to the marina and they passed through and so we got into the little lime green car (electric Kia) and ripped to Pebbles Beach on Sandy's suggestion where we discovered them again. The locals were doing their ocean swim and the sea lions and seals were swimming close to the ocean shore. I tried to get a video of the Killer Whales but could not find focus on my iPhone in time but knowing they are there is plenty awesome enough. I wondered if the stalashen were travelling or hunting or both and if there were any babies or youth in the pod. I hoped. In my excitement I didn't look to see if they were resident or transient. Not that I'm too confident in recognising these "distinct" features. From Pebbles we again hoped in the lime green Kia and zipped to Bonnie Brook beach were many locals were out enjoying the afternoon of good weather, picturesque clouds framing vancouver Island, and overall an incredible good start to January 1st 2025. We walked the beach and stopped to look West and see if we could see dorsal fins. We again saw sea lions, seals, cormorants and a cluster of birds further out but no fins. We said to each other, knowing those majestic beings, can dive deep, we told each other, they were diving past us, having somewhere to go. So we messaged our friends who were at the xwesam (Roberts Creek) Lantern event and told them to watch out for a family of stalashen (ocra) and they did. We later joined them and got to witness the lanterns launched, the intentions set (silently to ones self) and the collective community hoping for a better 2025.

With our friends Dale and Rt, we went to the gumboot and enjoyed salmon burgers and buddha bowls.

The first day of 2025 was capped off with a cup of tea, a session of "The Crown" and the sweet love of sleep. I love bed time. 2025, here you are. Art, Health, Family and Adventure. I'm ready!!

#Shaelynn is a proud member of the Tla-o-qui-aht, Nuu-chal-nulh people. She is an artist, curriculum planner and designer, graphic designer and screen printer and is a lead guide-cultural ambassador for Talaysay Tours Shae joined our company three years ago in our Love The Land apparel and sales. We immediately saw her immense skill sets in communication among many other talents and to be honest I knew we had to make her a part of our team. Shaelynn is an exceptional person and she fits right into the fold of our family. We love her scientific mind and her commitment to high standards. The sun snuck out from behind the clouds and the gorgeous little tree frogs, and yes garden snakes greeted us along the paths as the red breasted robin sang her song. Our Talking Treed Tour at Sunshine Coast Botanicals was fantastic. Thank you to our community of 29 guests who joined us. Thank you Sunshine Coast Community Forest for your support and sponsorship of this community event. Thank you to Mary and Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens for hosting us. We have many more exciting plans in the future including an August schedule of Talking Trees - the Birds and the Bees tours on the 13th, 20th and 27th.
