OPERATIONS UPDATE for Monday January 15 11:30 AM

Temperatures have risen since earlier this morning and we will be gradually returning to normal lift operations as we implement a phased approach to opening.

The plan for lifts and terrain is to start with the Beginner Carpets and Platter Lift, then the Mile 1 Express and then spreading to the remainder of the mountain. Summit Quad will remain closed today. Due to cold temperatures our plans could change or be delayed and for the protection of our staff, guests, and infrastructure.

We advise all guests intending to venture onto the mountain to dress suitably and exercise patience, as we strive to overcome the weather-related challenges. Indoor operations continue as they have done so throughout the cold period.

Stay warm, stay safe and stay tuned to this page for further updates.

BC Hydro experienced a power outage affecting Panorama. The outage was a result of fallen tree on the power lines from all the recent snowfall. The resort team mustered quickly and on plan to safely clear anyone on the lifts using the back up drive motors. Power has been fully restored to the Resort and we look forward to another incredible day on the slopes on Tuesday.

The Platter lift is temporarily closed for maintenance. We anticipate the closure to last until early next week. Sorry in advance for any inconvenience.

Homeowners in vicinity will have special ski access back to their homes and a dedicated shuttle service on the weekend is available at the bottom of the Platter to bring residents to the base area.

As the rain set in yesterday, we finally got the chance to meet and say a huge, heartfelt thank you to some of the incredible firefighters who have been protecting Panorama and our region from the Horsethief Creek Wildfire this summer.

Firefighters from across Canada, the USA, Australia and Mexico have been part of the crews safeguarding the resort along with our local Panorama Fire Department. Yesterday, we welcomed a group from the BC Wildfire Service and 40 firefighters from Serpiente Amarilla (Yellow Snake), a crew of experts from Mexico who lent their strength to the firefighting effort here.

No amount of words can truly express our immense gratitude to all the amazing professionals and volunteer crews that have stood as a protective shield for our community over the past month and continue to keep us safe. THANK YOU!

We'd also like to give a special shout out to the Panorama Fire Department who have dedicated their time to protecting Panorama and who continue to support crews battling fires in nearby communities and the Okanagan. 💙

At 8:00 AM the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) issued an Evacuation ALERT encompasses Panorama and Toby Creek Road southwest of Lillian Lake due to the Horsethief Creek Wildfire (Mt Bruce - N22243).

Read the Alert Notice here: https://bit.ly/3E0bBZn

For information from the RDEK about what you should do and how to prepare, click here: https://bit.ly/3OHOYOn

You can also find a helpful preparedness checklist here.https://bit.ly/3QDve0U

An Evacuation Alert is a warning about a potential threat to life and/or property. The Alert is NOT an order to evacuate at this time. It is intended to give you time to be ready for a possible evacuation. Authorities will give residents as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, however, you may receive limited notice due to suddenly changing conditions.

Emergency Info BC recommends that an evacuation alert is the time to get prepared to leave your home on short notice. Get your grab-and-go bags ready (which should include several days of clothing, toiletries and medications), your emergency plan, copies of important documents and important mementos.

You can find more information about grab-and-go bags here: https://bit.ly/3DYeCcP
