Larger family opportunity for March Break

We have a few Family suites available on March7th from Halifax at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace in Punta Cana. One room has a king bed, the connecting room has 2 doubles, each room has its own bathroom and a shared balcony. This is ideal for multi couples, larger families, or families with littles who go to bed earlier so parents can stay up.

Our last day on the island of santorini, we are headed back to Athens tomorrow.

Today we began with a visit to what the Greeks believe as the “lost city of atlantis” at the Akrotiri excavation. This prehistoric civilization was destroyed when the massive earthquakes ripped the island apart and volcanos showered them with ash and rock. It’s a very impressive exhibit and the technological advancements they had were amazing.….

The afternoon we spent a few hors at another beach only this had black sand. The water was warm and it was a great way to spend the afternoon. This evening we went into town for gyros (5 min walk from our hotel) finished up some shopping and caught another beautiful sunset. Lots of people in the streets tonight .

What I really really enjoyed about this itinerary is there was a small amount of sightseeing, a lot of free time to do your own thing, and only a few optional excursions. I found this trip to be a great balance , everyone is feeling rested, and relaxed as if we had a beach holiday in the Caribbean coupled with the joy of discovering a new place and learning about a culture. We had 4 days in Athens, 3 days in Mykonos and 3 in Santorini. A few tour directors we met said Crete is the best island so maybe that is a place to visit down the road.

Today was our full day in santorini. We had the morning to ourselves as our excursion to Oia did not leave until 3pm . We went shopping getting some souvenirs. Our trip to oia behave wi th a tour of a vineyard. In santorini they grow their grapes low to the ground in a circular pattern to keep humidity in, protect from winds and sun. After a wine tasting we went to Oia. This place was packed . To get to the view of the 3 churches you walk down a small alley packed with people. It’s not enjoyable but neat to see this famous vista.

We had dinner at Deilinos on their verandah with great views of the sunset. Good food and great service

Today we transitioned from the island of Mykonos to the island of Santorini

We began with the high speed ferry it took about 2 hours and was relatively calm. Upon arrival we took our bus to the hotel the El Greco resort and spa. This property has a dining room with buffet, 3 pools a full spa and a bar. It’s approx 10 min walk to town where there are tonnes of shops and restaurants. We only had a brief time in town and came back to the resort for some pool time followed by dinner.

We are looking forward to tomorrow to see more of this beautiful hilltop village…

TOday was our last day in Mykonos, we have been here for 3. Some in our group took a tour to the sacred island of Delos. The remainder of us had a relaxing day. we began with a little shopping in town followed by the afternoon at the pools. We are just past the halfway mark in our tour so having a down day was just what we needed. The hotel we are at is the San Antonio Summerland and we all upgraded to swim up rooms. Great great property, a shuttle runs continuously to town, food in the restaurant is delicious and the service is great. Highly recommend this as a place close to down but out of the way of the congestion !!! Tomorrow we head to Santorini which will be out home for 3 days …..
