Operations Update: The wildfire in Rutherford Valley has now been classified as Being Held, which means BC Wildfire doesn’t expect it to spread with the current resources and weather conditions. Thanks to the recent rain, cooler temperatures, and the hard work of the amazing firefighters and support crews, the fire activity has slowed down. Thankfully, the fire has not reached our Hidden Peak trail.⁠

We’re awaiting the go-ahead to resume heli-biking, and with more rain on the way, we're optimistic about getting back out there soon.⁠

Will you be visiting Whistler this Christmas? While it's still 4 months away, we're starting to see the bookings roll in for our sightseeing tours over the peak season. If you're considering a helicopter tour around Christmas and New Year's, we recommend booking in soon! Here are some handy tips for booking:

✨️ Best Tour Time: 3 pm is our last tour of the day (and near sunset) for beautiful light and afternoon glow. Want to start the day with a thrill? 9 am is our first tour of the day. These time slots are booked up first!
🌨️ Weather Days: We love the snow - we always want more of it! However, it does mean we can get weathered out of flying. We recommend booking a heli tour at the start of your trip so that you have backup dates available if we need to reschedule you.
💫 Book with no obligation: We offer a very flexible cancellation policy and don't require full payment when booking. Simply cancel more than 24 hours before your tour and get a full refund. Book over the phone or by email with our team and you won't pay a cent until you check in for your tour on the day!
🧊 Glacier Landings: Want the experience of landing on a 12,000-year-old glacier that overlooks the Whistler Valley? Book our BC Experience tour. It's 24 minutes of tour time with a (Weather dependent) complimentary landing on Rainbow Glacier.
🚗 Don't have a car? No problem. We offer a free shuttle service from Whistler Village to the Heliport!

Operations Update: Unfortunately, we are extending our operational pause on Heli Biking due to the ongoing wildfire situation in the Rutherford. All bookings will be rescheduled where possible to August 19th and onwards. We do apologise for the inconvenience will provide an update next week!

Following a lightning event on the evening of August 5, the Pemberton Fire Zone has seen 13 new fire starts. Three of these fires (V31896, V31860, and V31846) are now Being Held and two are Out (V31837, V31904). Crews continue to action fires where possible with support from contract crews and aviation resources. Many of these fires are in steep, challenging terrain and crew safety is our top priority.

With continued hot and dry conditions in the forecast, additional fires may be discovered, and new starts are anticipated with forecasted lightning. We urge the public to continue following fire prohibitions and be extremely cautious when recreating.

Operations Update: Due to the wildfire in the Rutherford, we have paused Heli-Biking until Monday Aug 12. We will be reassessing the situation over the weekend and apologize to riders that have had their bookings cancelled/rescheduled. Safety is our first priority and we want to ensure the airspace remains clear for wildfire suppression as well.

Note: Our Sightseeing tours are currently unaffected and are still operating with tour paths flying south of Whistler.

The Heli-Bike Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operations of our heli-bike program. This includes organization of bike groups, communication between the Alpx team, logistics planning, arrangement of guides and shuttle drivers, and leading the overall flow of the program including waiver completion and safety briefings. This role combines administration with ground crew duties including loading aircraft and fuelling.

Operations Update: The wildfire located in the Rutherford Valley (where our Hidden Peak trail is located) is currently still classed as Out Of Control. Thankfully the fire has not reached our trail, but for everyone’s safety, we are continuing to pause Heli-biking operations up until August 23rd to keep people out of the area, and keep the skies clear for aircraft that are working the fire. BC Wildfire crew continue to work hard to control the fire and we hope to be able to provide a positive update soon. Guests with bookings between now and the 23rd will have been contacted with the offer to reschedule or cancel with a full refund. For any guests booked beyond the 23rd, your bookings are still confirmed and you will only be contacted any changes need to be made. We’ll continue to update our social media with any changes. Operation Update with Zander from Howler Contracting: Our Hidden Peak trail, nestled in the high alpine, is shaping up well, and we're gearing up for Heli Biking to kick off in mid to late July. While many may not realise it, the snowpack in these elevations lingers well into the summer months, and we are seeing that now.
