We always love a photo of a line up! This line up for the gondola was captured during the week of February 23, 1981 and, as you can see, the lack of snow in the valley didn't stop skiers from heading up Whistler Mountain. Photo: Whistler Question Collection, 1981

Super interesting history for those new to our Whistler world! Whistler Museum has so many interesting displays and stories to share.

Until the Village and Olympic Chairs opened in 1980, all chairlifts on Whistler Mountain were named for colours: Red (1965), Blue (1966), Green (1968), Orange (1972), Olive (1972), Green 2 (1975), and Little Red (1978). (Most of these chairs were painted to match their names, like the Blue Chair pictured here, making them pretty easy to identify in colour photographs!) While most chairlifts today have a variety of names, the Red and Green Chairs live on in the Big Red Express and Emerald Express. Photo: George Benjamin Collection, 1973
