Water is cold cold cold and the big ones are taking a bit more persuasion but are no less on!! We are in the final few weeks of open water fishing, let's get you out there before it all locks up for the winter!

Details

I've been lacking on posting, but not due to a lack of guiding! Just finished up a long stretch of going out every day, for pretty much every species swimming in the Yukon! Some incredible days out there with some great people. I truly appreciate everyone who has taken a chance booking with me and helped make this dream a reality.

I will be away from service from 14-29th of September, feel free to shoot me a text or an email if you'd like to get on the list if I should happen to be back early, or if you want to go in October!

Highlight of the day! Full Day trips include a fresh fish shore lunch prepared on the fire with fish you caught and Yukon grown potatoes. Baked or fried, lunch is often the high point of the day. Amazing day with Eric, Alisa, and Georg up visiting from southern BC! The pike were on fire with a 109 cm taking the cake as best fish of the day. 9 year old Georg showed his parents a thing or two about fishing for sure. Great to see a young fella so passionate about it. Ended the afternoon with an awesome shore lunch and headed on home.

The bite has been ramping up and we are now in laker prime time!! I have very limited space in the coming weeks so please lock it in now if you are wanting to go. 867 689 0273

Fun day with these two visiting from the UK! They'd just spent 8 days canoeing the Big Salmon without any luck on the fishing front, so on their final day in Canada we went out in search of grayling. It was a great time with both of them getting multiple beauties, with a riverside shore lunch of elk sausage, fresh grayling and fries. Great way to spend a Saturday! Hope I sold you guys on an icefishing trip next winter! 😂

Two pictures, taken a year apart.

We spent our first anniversary in a similar way as the beginning of our relationship, floating around in an eighteen foot Alumarine. The lake was calm when we left for a quick evening fish after supper, hoping to see a moose, or at least float around a bit and enjoy the sun. A year prior we had been freshly married, and needed to celebrate somehow. After a few casts, Amber tightened up on something. The FIRST fish of the night is the one you see here, her best, a giant pike by any standard. After a few quick pics and a burp we watched it swim back down to bottom on the livescope. What a fish.

Our relationship has always been unique and the other night was another instance that shows that. I am very lucky to have her!

Big pike day 😎😎

Nick reached out and wanted to get into some jacks and I was happy to oblige! First fish of the day was well over a meter, and that set the tone for the day. Absolutely incredible average size with most of them sight fished.

They are fired up right now so please get a hold of me if you are wanting to get out!

Been lacking a little on the posts, I just returned home from a trip south to pick up the new boat in and three weeks of guiding for in the NWT!

Just got home and hit the ground running, took repeat customer Mike and two young fellas visiting from southern BC out in search of pike. We had a great day with multiple double headers, the fish were shallow and they were on 😎😎

Spring is here! I was absolutely obsessed with grayling as a kid due to my fascination with the North. They are a perfect example of a fish that is much more beautiful than it needs to be, with their iridecent colours and that incredible dorsal fin. Its important to treat them well at this time of year (as well as all year) when they are most vulnerable. No wading in the spawning grounds, barbless only, wet hands to handle them, minimal handling time, avoiding dragging them up on the bank, and gently letting them swim out of your hand on the way back are all great tips to maximize C+R success and keep this delicate species plentiful as it should be.

***End Of Season Special***

I've been looking forward to this all winter and am excited to share it with you all!

I have been catching the biggest Arctic Char to come out of the Yukon (and probably Alaska) since the early days up at Cantlie Lake!

The window to capitalize on these fish through the ice is small and closing fast! If you want a big char please contact me asap!

These trips are hike in only, a moderate level of physical fitness is required to get in and out of there. Also, due to the size and rarity of these beauties, we will be going 100% catch and release on them. If you want fish to eat you can buy them up at Icy Waters for a lot less than what I'm charging.

Full Days only due to the distance, they include a hot lunch cooked on the ice, as well as hot drinks and local snacks 😎

Pricing on these is going to run a bit less than usual, $650 Canadian for two people, $50 for each extra person. This is not going to last! A picture with one of these babies is an unforgettable souvenir of your Yukon adventure for you to take home with you 🎣🎣

Last night was insane!! After a few cloudy nights the Northern Lights came out in full force for us once again! The fish were biting too to round out the experience! Another great night in the beautiful Yukon.

Some truly mind blowing light shows the last few nights! With the warm weather and clear skies there has never been a better time this winter than right now. Feel so lucky to call this place home!

I am going to be out of reach for the following week, returning March 29th. If you are looking to book for April please drop me a line and I will get back to you when I get home!

Pike are great eating and often pretty cooperative, they hold the title of the fastest freshwater fish on earth, and are one of only two circumpolar freshwater fish on earth, the other being the burbot, another Yukon favourite! They can be very bony if not cleaned properly, but that's not an issue if you hire a professional guide 😉. With firm white meat, they are absolutely excellent table fare, especially when pulled from our cold northern lakes.

North Country allows two non trophy fish per angler per trip to be taken home, with all trophies and most others being returned to the lake to spawn and be caught another day. This is usually enough meat to provide several meals. With ever increasing pressure on our lakes, it's everyone's responsibility to look after our resource. Remember that a "limit" is an absolute maximum, not a goal!

We've been getting some incredible light shows the last few nights!! We still have a solid month left in the aurora season, with limited availability left in March and a fair bit of availability for the first half of April!
