September 30th marks National Truth and Reconciliation Day, an opportunity for all Canadians to reflect on the painful legacy of residential schools. On this day, Alkan Air honours the children who never returned home, the Survivors, and the families
and communities impacted by this dark chapter in history.

We wear orange to stand in solidarity with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, to raise awareness, and to commit ourselves to learning, supporting, and moving forward together. This is part of our collective journey toward healing and reconciliation.

Exciting news! Alkan Air's Flight Academy, in partnership with the Ross River Dena Council and the Daylu Dena Council, is launching a Remote Flight School at Faro Airport. This program, beginning on September 15, 2024, will train four Kaska citizens to obtain their Commercial Pilot License (CPL) on the traditional territory of the Ross River Dena Council.

September 30th marks and recognizes National Truth and Reconciliation Day, the 80th Call to Action. Alkan Air stands in solidarity with our partners, our Community, survivors, and all those affected by the residential schools. It is with heavy hearts that we join Yukoners in grief and sorrow as we hear the investigation reports of the 15 unmarked grave sites at the Chooutla residential school in Carcross.

Alkan Air would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Alpine Aviation, RC Crane, and all of our internal team members for their assistance today with our float plane.

Overnight (Sunday, September 24 to Monday, September 25) one of our float planes moored at Schwatka Lake became partially submerged.

The Alkan Air team is currently assessing the cause. No passengers, staff or community members were involved.

Designed by Mark Douglas (our Regulatory Compliance and Safety Manager) this patch will proudly adorn the uniforms, shirts, backpacks, laptop cases of our exceptional team. It symbolizes the recognition of our crew's hard work.
-Both the charter and bush aircrafts represent the diversity of our operations.
-The heartbeat represents the Medevacs that Alkan conducts daily, and also gives us the look of the mountains surrounding our bases in Nanaimo, Whitehorse and Mayo.
-The gear shape recognizes maintenance and the the joint efforts of finance, operations, administration, flight instructors, ramp, client relations flight followers and safety, in making sure we can fly anywhere, anytime for our valued clients.

Alkan is proud to say that we operate with over 100 employees with bases in Mayo, YT, Nanaimo, BC, and Whitehorse, YT. In 2015, Alkan opened the Flight Academy supporting growing pilots for the North. Alkan Air has been Yukon's medevac provider for over three decades and has recently entered a new partnership in 2022, the Yukon First Nations Leasing Partnership in collaboration to continue to provide safe, efficient healthcare to all Yukoners. Many thanks to our local communities for supporting us for the past 45 years, here is to another 45 more! Today we had the honour to be part of a beautiful event held at The Nanaimo International Airport -YCD. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds (431 Squadron) are Ambassadors to the C.H.I.L.D. Foundation, each year they perform an aerial show in different cities throughout BC. If you are in Nanaimo, make sure to go downtown tomorrow August 8th at 5:30pm to watch them perform!
