In 2021, more than 8.3 million people, or almost one-quarter (23.0%) of the population, were or have ever been a landed immigrant or permanent resident in Canada. This is the largest proportion since Confederation, topping the previous 1921 record of 22.3%, and the highest among the G7. Immigration is expected to continue to increase in the decades to come.

Over 1.3 million new or recent immigrants were permanently admitted from 2016 to May 2021, accounting for 15.9% of all immigrants living in Canada in 2021.

Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) update: This week, we will begin sending Invitations to Apply to potential sponsors who previously submitted an Interest to Sponsor form in 2020: https://www.canada.ca/.../reuniting-families-across-the...
Invitations will be sent by email over the next two weeks to randomly selected potential sponsors from the remaining pool of 2020 Interest to Sponsor forms.
If you submitted an Interest to Sponsor form in 2020 and did not receive an invitation to apply as part of either the 2020 or 2021 intake, keep checking the email address you provided on that form, including your spam and junk mail folders.
If you lost your confirmation number or no longer have access to the email address you used to submit your Interest to Sponsor form, you'll be able to retrieve your confirmation number or provide a new address once all the invitations have been sent: https://www.canada.ca/.../sponsor-parents.../selected.html
If you receive an invitation to apply, you must submit your PGP application electronically through our Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal by the deadline on your invitation: https://www.canada.ca/.../sponsor-parents.../apply.html

International Students: we are temporarily lifting the 20-hour-per-week cap on the number of hours that students in Canada are allowed to work off-campus while class is in session: https://www.canada.ca/.../international-students-to-help...
Starting November 15 2022, until December 31 2023, if you’re an international student and have a study permit with off-campus work authorization, there will no longer be any limit on the hours you can work.
You can benefit from this change if:
✔️ your study permit has already been issued
✔️ your study permit has been approved but you have not arrived in Canada yet
✔️ you submitted a study permit application before October 7, 2022, and are awaiting approval
