It took me over a week to find the words to share about my time in India. This trip was one of the most challenging I've experienced—filled with moments that were heartbreaking, chaotic, and overwhelming. Yet, at the same time, it was amazing, beautiful, peaceful and profoundly kind.

I was one of 12 travel agents from North America invited to participate in Intrepid's Women's Expedition: India tour. Although it’s normally a 13-day journey, we condensed it into a powerful 7-day experience. This women's-only tour, led by a female guide, allowed us to see India through the eyes of the women who live there. It was truly empowering, fostering connections deeper than we could have imagined—both with each other and with the incredible local women we met.

Here are some highlights:

We visited a café run by survivors of acid attacks, where we were moved by their stories of resilience and healing. They are now advocates for change, working tirelessly to protect other women.

We rode in the Pink City Rickshaws, driven by women defying norms in India. It was inspiring to see how they navigated the bustling streets of Jaipur with confidence.

We experienced the warmth of local women who welcomed us into their homes, teaching us to cook traditional meals, dress in sarees, and share stories about marriage, work, and family.

We visited a Sikh temple, where we rolled chapati's alongside the women volunteering their time to cook around the clock meals for temple visitors.

We enjoyed sunrise yoga and sunset Bollywood dancing, embracing every moment.

And of course, we visited the Taj Mahal, dressed in our beautiful sarees, connecting with local women through smiles, hugs, and photos, transcending language barriers.

India was hard, it was amazing, it was transformative.

I believe everyone should take the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone on a journey like this at least once. You’ll learn so much about yourself and the world around you.

During my recent travels I joined the Egypt and Jordan adventure, offered by G Adventures. A 15 day tour, with one week spent in Egypt and the second week in Jordan. Highlights - The Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx (we even got to go inside the pyramids!) - The Egyptian museum - Philae Temple - Abu Simbel Temple - Visiting a local Nubian village for dinner - Sailing the Nile on a traditional Fellucca boat, and sleeping on board - Karnak Temple - Luxor and the Luxor Temple - The Valley of the Kings To start the adventure I opted for the airport pick up, which was well worth it. The representative met me as soon as I got off the plane, and assisted with getting my visa, money, sim card for my phone, luggage, and escorted me to my hotel. We met our guide, a wonderful local, named Alber, who is also an Egyptologist. He was knowledgeable, kind, approachable, funny, and genuienly cared about us, he quickly became known as our "Tour Dad". Our guide was made up of a group of mid 20s to mid 30 year olds, from all around the world and everyone got along fantastically! G Adventures arranged all of our accommodations, which were basic, but clean and comfortable, all of our transportation, and many of our activities. We were able to try plenty of local food, including my favourite, Koshary. We were given plenty of free time to explore, and shop for souvenirs, or just have a drink with our fellow travellers and get to know each other! Overall I had a fantastic week in Egypt with G Adventures. It exceeded every expectation I had, and I would highly recommend it to all of my clients! A favourite stop during our first few days in Jordan, was the Dead Sea!! While it is named the Dead Sea, it is actually an in-land lake located on the border of Jordan and Israel. The Dead Sea is the saltiest body of water on earth, with a 33% salinity rate. It is 10x saltier than regular ocean water!! It is also the lowest point on earth, resting below sea level! The sensation of floating seemingly weightlessly in the water was one of the coolest feelings, and incredibly hard to explain! It is said that swimming in the Dead Sea and bathing in the mud will make you look 10 years younger, and can cure many skin aliments. I couldn’t resist giving it a try! They say the Dead Sea is dropping a meter every year and by 2050 will be dried up, so hurry up and visit while you can!
