Sharing few bits of Yarmouth history today, relating to the original Grand Hotel which graced our Main Street from 1894-1966.

Dating from the hotels earlier years, these promotional photos and souvenir spoon date back to 1900 and 1902, along with an original coat check tag of the era.

Enjoy the day everyone! 🙂

I clearly remember the Saturday night ritual of rural families going to town, more specifically, to the Yarmouth Royal Store. Sometimes, I was invited to go with my best friend’s family. Her sister, her brothers and I scrambled into the back seat of a slightly outdated car. Our excitement was palpable.

In Richard Leblanc’s words, “Phase one of my restoration project now completed. Thanks to Danielle Mahood who did a tremendous job bringing my vision to a reality. She’s a gifted artist who is now gaining a reputation as a muralist. I wanted to commemorate Yarmouth’s rich history of when it was an important historic seaport and major shipbuilding centre. This scene was taken from a postcard of the Yarmouth waterfront in 1900.
Thank you also goes out to the Yarmouth Facade and Mural Program who cost shared seventy five percent on the project, and I encourage all other businesses to take advantage of this opportunity.”
