Korpela & Hofs Watchmaking Competence Centre

Korpela & Hofs Watchmaking Competence Centre The K&H Watchmaking Competence Centre, an international and independent watchmaking school. We are committed to excellence in teaching, not just watchmaking.

The Korpela & Hofs Watchmaking Competence Centre has been established to provide watchmaking courses that focuses not only on High End After sales service, but which also encourages technical creativity, design and strong watchmaking fundamentals. KHWCC has a highly structured but liberal environment where independent thought is valued and students are actively encouraged to achieve their full pot

ential. Our goal is to teach skills and principles fundamental to watchmaking and micromechanics. Once the student establishes these foundations, we encourage and guide them to explore their own technical creativity and innovation. In this way, students develop the skill, knowledge and confidence to face the ever-evolving watchmaking industry. As KHWCC is not reliant on corporate donations, we are afforded greater scope and independence to enhance the learning experience. Therefore, KHWCC is able to achieve true autonomy in watchmaking education because it is a fully independent instution operated by highly skilled and experienced watchmakers and teachers.

BHI - basic clock work course

Basic Clock Course - SPACES STILL AVAILABLE!

27–31 January, Upton Hall, Newark, UK

Tutor: Ross Alcock FBHI

A practical workshop course using students own movements. You will gain an overview of necessary horological skills and techniques applicable to the more common single-train and two-train clocks of English, German or American origin – limited to hour and passing strike types. Please note that simple Fusee movements can be accommodated but only hour and passing strike types.

This course is designed for those BHI members who prefer not to follow the DLC but do have the desire to gain sufficient practical skills and knowledge to safely service, repair and maintain their own collection.

Our Basic Clock course draws on the BHI’s DLC level 3, 4 and 5 courses and takes into account industry standards. We do hope participants will see the course as a gateway or taster before deciding to follow the DLC and become a qualified horologist.

Congratulation to our fullskill training students! They graduated end of October and we wish them a successfull and fulfilling watchmaking career! They even have a souvenir to take home! The engravement is done on our pantograph with the help of Michael himself. He even got a little emotional when he wished them good luck, it feels a little like letting go of his children after 2 years of intense training, he shared. Thank you Michael for your amazing work and dedication to school!
