Visit Leukerbad in winter and you can combine spa and wellness with snow sure skiing between 1,411m and 2,610m.
The town of Leukerbad is small and charming, situated at the far end of the road that rises from Leuk in the Rhone Valley to the foot of the Gemmipass at an altitude of 1,411m.
Leukerbad has direct access to 55km of downhill skiing, comprised of 18 individual pistes served by 11 ski lifts. Reaching up to a snow-sure 2,850m you can be sure to find good conditions all season long. The Rinderhutte lies in the heart of the ski area, just above the tree line and where seven lifts meet. These provide access to a number of black trails and off-piste or tree skiing opportunities; overall making the ski area fantastically varied in its terrain and suitable for skiers and boarders of various abilities.
Whilst this challenging terrain may not be well-suited to beginners, the Snowsportarena / Park Erli facilities offer a wide open nursery slope, T-bar and children's ski lift.

Leukerbad sits at 1402 meters (4602 feet) and is a small town, headquarters for mountain bikers, hikers and climbers, skiers in the winter. Leukerbad is the village in the Alps where the hot springs flow out, and the Romans established bathhouses.
It’s not solely the spas that draw individuals to Leukerbad, there are two mountain railways Gemmi and Torrent that take you as much as see stunning views of the four-thousand-meter peaks of the Valais Alps.

Dala Gorge, with its waterfalls, rounded rock hollows, narrow canyon and metal walkways tacked on the sides of the cliffs. The river corkscrewed around, and dropped about 60 feet into a pool. There was a small rainbow in the mist.

For beginner skiers, there is a novice area next to the Sportsarena in Leukerbad called Erli Park. It’s not connected to the Torrent slopes but is located in town, and good for beginners and kids.

Es ist ein abenteuerliches Erlebnis auf diesem Metall-Steg mit Treppen und Hängebrücken die enge Schlucht zu durchwandern, unten das Getöse der Dala, in welche sich aus den Felswänden einige Thermalquellen ergiessen. An einer Stelle kann man sogar einen kleinen Metalleimer an einem Seil in die Tiefe lassen und warmes Wasser zu sich heraufziehen. Zum ersten Mal erlebe ich dieses überwältigende Naturschauspiel. Diesen Weg werde ich bestimmt in Zukunft öfters gehen.
